Sinopse

Having failed miserably while working for his uncle, Sam finds himself shipped off to America. He would much rather have been headed to Canada as he'd fallen in love with the picture of a women he'd found left behind in a remote cabin when he'd vacationed there. That is, until he sees another picture of her, in America, while visiting an old friend. He discovers his dream girl, Kay, is the niece of Matthew Wrenn who works for Mammoth Publishing Company. Sam takes a job with Mammoth Publishing Company and rents the house next door to the Wrenn's. From there he sets out to win Kay's affections. Throw in a mystery of a lost family treasure and a gang of thieves and you have the makings of a spirited romp! P. G. Wodehouse at his very best.

Discover the Unfiltered Voice of America.

Mark Twain was more than a humorist; he was the "Lincoln of our literature." With a sharp eye for hypocrisy and a heart for the underdog, he captured the growing pains of a young nation with unmatched wit and honesty. This comprehensive collection brings together his complete novels, tracing the journey from the muddy banks of the Mississippi to the royal courts of Europe, all seen through the lens of his signature irreverent spirit.

This collection explores the pillars of Twain's literary legacy:

The Master of the Vernacular: Experience the revolutionary use of authentic American speech, breaking away from stiff European traditions to create a literature that truly belongs to the people.

The Sharp Edge of Satire: Witness Twain's "moral compass" at work as he skewers the absurdities of slavery, class pretension, and the corruption of the Gilded Age.

Picaresque Adventure: Follow his iconic wanderers and rogues on journeys of self-discovery, where the road (or the river) serves as a classroom for life's harshest and most beautiful lessons.

Philosophical Contrast: Explore the duality of his work—the sunny, nostalgic adventures of youth contrasted with his later, more biting critiques of "the damned human race."

Twain's influence is inescapable, defining the rhythm and soul of the American story. Whether you are seeking a hilarious romp or a profound meditation on justice and freedom, this volume is an essential cornerstone for any library of classic literature and cultural history.

Journey to the Center of the Earth is a classic 1864 science fiction novel by Jules Verne. The story involves German professor Otto Lidenbrock who believes there are volcanic tubes going toward the center of the Earth. He, his nephew Axel, and their guide Hans descend into the Icelandic volcano Snæfellsjökull, encountering many adventures, including prehistoric animals and natural hazards, before eventually coming to the surface again in southern Italy, at the Stromboli volcano. From a scientific point of view, this story has not aged quite as well as other Verne stories, since most of his ideas about what the interior of the Earth contains have since been disproved, but it still manages to captivate audiences when regarded as a classic fantasy novel.
