From John Paul II, to Frederick Douglas, Martin Luther King Jr. and others in between, Too Many, by author James Syver, shares the stories of twenty people who have impacted history and the lives of many. Each was moved to state their trust and belief in their Creator, and in large measures, credit Him for their work.
This collection of Christ-inspired histories explores the individuals’ lives and the impact they’ve had on society. Syver discusses each person’s background and character, what propelled them forward, how they inspired future generations, and how they were guided by their faith.
Offerings of lives well lived, ‘Too Many’ shares how each of these twenty people influenced the world because they, in their time, listened, and acted. From contemplations to inspiring actions and from many different pages of history, these vignettes underscore a personal belief and trust in the divine.

THE NEW KALISHNIKOVS :: AK-47 - aka Drones
This poem is about the new invention in war, of small arms arsenals - The Drone. Coming on the heels of the
former mass produced and used small arm the - Kalashnikov rifle.
The similarities of the AK and Drones, for widespread use are their cheapness to build relative to their
use - cost benefit. Their individual strike and their reliability, and their
    effectiveness.
In all its guises, it represents a new era in remote 'close contact'.
The Drone itself being sent from a remote location and controlled at a remote location,
but the target being an individual, small group or military vehicle like the Tank.
Drones are fast becoming the choice of weapon in the modern age for battlefield contact.
    * Absolutely NO A.I. has been used in the creation of this Poem.
Purely 100% inspirational from the Author. * As for all his poems.*

    Backroom Deals in Our Backyards...

Most Americans are likely to encounter the effects of government malfeasance or neglect close to home—from their governors, mayors, town councils, school boards, police, and prosecutors. In fact, deals shrouded in darkness are regularly made at the state and local levels, often the result of closed-door discussions between governments and industry without any scrutiny whatsoever from the public. Too often, residents are intentionally kept on the outside, struggling to get information about significant issues affecting their communities—from car crashes and dirty drinking water, to failing safety gear—until the backroom deals are done and it's too late to challenge them.

Backroom Deals in Our Backyards tells the story of five "accidental activists"—people from across the United States who started questioning why their local and state governments didn't protect them from issues facing their communities and why there was a frightening lack of transparency surrounding the way these issues were resolved. The secret deals, lies, and corruption they uncover shake their faith in government but move them to action.

For readers of Chain of Title and Superman's Not Coming, Spivack's revealing take on a hidden dimension of American politics will outrage and educate anyone who cares about the forces shaping their own communities.

    The Common Wind - Afro-American...

The Common Wind is a gripping and colorful account of the intercontinental networks that tied together the free and enslaved masses of the New World. Having delved deep into the gray obscurity of official eighteenth-century records in Spanish, English, and French, Julius S. Scott has written a powerful "history from below." Scott follows the spread of "rumors of emancipation" and the people behind them, bringing to life the protagonists in the slave revolution.

By tracking the colliding worlds of buccaneers, military deserters, and maroon communards from Venezuela to Virginia, Scott records the transmission of contagious mutinies and insurrections in unparalleled detail, providing listeners with an intellectual history of the enslaved.

Though The Common Wind is credited with having "opened up the Black Atlantic with a rigor and a commitment to the power of written words," the manuscript remained unpublished for thirty-two years. Now, after receiving wide acclaim from leading historians of slavery and the New World, it has been published for the first time, with a foreword by the academic and author Marcus Rediker.

Lament for a Nation - The Defeat...

Canadians have relatively few binding national myths, but one of the most pervasive and enduring is the conviction that the country is doomed. In 1965 George Grant passionately defended Canadian identity by asking fundamental questions about the meaning and future of Canada’s political existence. In Lament for a Nation he argued that Canada – immense and underpopulated, defined in part by the border, history, and culture it shares with the United States, and torn by conflicting loyalties to Britain, Quebec, and America – had ceased to exist as a sovereign state. Lament for a Nation became the seminal work in Canadian political thought and Grant became known as the father of Canadian nationalism.

This edition includes a major introduction by Andrew Potter that explores Grant’s arguments in the context of changes in ethnic diversity, free trade, globalization, post-modernism, and 9/11. Potter discusses the shifting uses of the terms “liberal” and “conservative” and closes with a look at the current state of Canadian nationalism.
