Sinossi

Once upon a time, there was a cute little puppy named Shiba. She was all alone, wandering the streets, feeling scared and sad. But then, something magical happened! A loving family found Shiba and decided to take her home. At first, Shiba was a bit unsure. She didn't know if she could trust her new family. But they were patient and kind, showing her lots of love and care. They taught her that she could trust them and that they would always be there for her. As Shiba spent more time with her new family, she discovered something amazing. She realized that she was special and unique, just the way she was. She didn't need to be like any other puppy because she had her own special qualities. Shiba's family helped her embrace her uniqueness. They celebrated her playful nature, her wagging tail, and her cute little bark. They taught her that being different was something to be proud of. And so, Shiba lived happily ever after with her loving family, knowing that she was loved for exactly who she was. The end. Shiba can handle all the tough stuff at school because she has her amazing friends Rey and Ryo by her side and their super nice teacher, Mr. Pawsitive, who always understands them. Shiba can do this because Mr. Pawsitive is really good at understanding how others feel. She finally gets over being shy and starts talking about how special she is, she stands up for herself when mean kids bother her, and she learns to accept that she's different from everyone else. The Shiba doggie has grown up to be even happier, more confident, and super duper excited to try new things! He does things that show he is trying to figure out who he is and get better at things.

A fast-paced and exciting read for middle grade fantasy, mystery, and animal buffs. Something strange is happening at the Clarksville City Zoo. Late at night, monkeys are scaling the walls and searching the neighborhood—but what are they looking for?
Noah, his sister Megan, and their best friends, Richie and Ella, live next door to the zoo. Megan is the first to notice the puzzling behavior of some of the animals. One day Megan disappears, and her brother and their friends realize it's up to them to find her. Their only choice is to follow a series of clues and sneak into the zoo. But once inside, they discover there's much more to the Clarksville City Zoo than they could ever have guessed...
The author originally had the idea for The Secret Zoo when he was nine and wondered what would happen if zoo exhibits had secret doors that allowed kids to go inside—and the animals to come outside. He brings that sense of adventure and excitement to this story, making it a favorite for home and classroom reading along with such middle grade fantasy favorites as The One and Only Ivan.
