Sinossi

The book, Interconnectedness of Life is about a scientific research in the British soil which revealed that the soil organisms exist in an interdependent manner. In the grassland soil ecosystem are the natural enemies which control the population of the other organisms, including oribatid mites, ensuring that the population does not grow above the required level in the system. Application of some pesticides remarkably reduced the population of the natural enemies and had little or no effect on the oribatid mites, making it possible for the population of the oribatid mites to grow above the usual level. Because the oribatid mites maintain the soil fertility, the end result was an increase in grass yield. In the book are the research data and the graphic representation of the data. The graphs show a correlation of the population of the oribatid mites with the grass yield.
In addition to revealing the ecological roles of the oribatid mites, the research unveiled how all life is interconnected. It also revealed the validity of the Gaia Theory, and the concept which has been held by man in his religion for thousands of years. The concept is that no life exists in isolation, independent of the others; and that a change in one lifeform cannot be fully understood without considering the simultaneous changes in the others. This concept is held by the Buddhists. The agreement of the research finding with the religious concept validates Albert Einstein's information: "Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind". This fact inspired the author of this book to write the novel: 'Man at Nature's Pinnacle'. The novel is about the importance and significance of man's interrelationships with animals and plants, as demonstrated in ancient Europe. The novel is set in the prehistoric age in Europe, a time when man was very close to nature; when his religion guided him to revere and conserve nature.

Bee populations are plummeting. The solution? Give them what they need to live naturally, and they'll handle the rest.

Susan Knilans and Jacqueline Freeman are in love with bees. So in love that they observe their bees—their work, communication, seasonal activity, and more—for hours each day. And with observation came realization: when bees are allowed to live as they would in nature (with smaller hives, no chemicals, freedom to swarm, and little-to-no human interference), they will thrive. Accordingly, Knilans and Freeman have spent decades perfecting the revolutionary practice of preservation beekeeping, guided by the simple question, "What do the bees want?"

A must-listen, this instructional book tells the story of their successes and failures, demonstrating what was learned along the way. Sharing preservation beekeeping's key tenets, the authors provide concrete, simple ways to implement their approach, from finding the right hive location to honing observation skills. This preservation manifesto is a vital addition to any beekeeper's library, imparting all the joys of a beekeeper's life.

A deeply moving narrative of the coronavirus pandemic, told through portraits of eight individuals who worked tirelessly to help others. In March 2020, COVID-19 overtook the United States, and life changed for America. In a matter of weeks the virus impacted millions, with lockdown measures radically reshaping the lives of even those who did not become infected. Yet despite the fear, hardship, and heartbreak from this period of collective struggle, there was hope. In The Helpers, journalist Kathy Gilsinan profiles eight individuals on the frontlines of the coronavirus battle: a devoted son caring for his family in the San Francisco Bay Area; a not-quite-retired paramedic from Colorado; an ICU nurse in the Bronx; the CEO of a Seattle-based ventilator company; a vaccine researcher at Moderna in Boston; a young chef and culinary teacher in Louisville, Kentucky; a physician in Chicago; and a funeral home director in Seattle and Los Angeles. These inspiring individual accounts create an unforgettable tapestry of how people across the country and the socioeconomic spectrum came together to fight the most deadly pandemic in a century.
