  Subjected to more criticism than any other book now incorporated in the New Testament, the Apocalypse--popularly accredited to St. John the Divine--is by far the most important but least understood of the Gnostic Christian writings. Though Justin Martyr declared the Book of Revelation to have been written by "John, one of Christ's apostles," its authorship was disputed as early as the second century after Christ. In the third century these contentions became acute and even Dionysius of Alexandria and Eusebius attacked the Johannine theory, declaring that both the Book of Revelation and the Gospel according to St. John were written by one Cerinthus, who borrowed the name of the great apostle the better to foist his own doctrines upon the Christians. Later Jerome questioned the authorship of the Apocalypse and during the Reformation his objections were revived by Luther and Erasmus. The once generally accepted notion that the Book of Revelation was the actual record of a "mystical experience" occurring to St. John while that seer was an exile in the Isle of Parmos is now regarded with disfavor by more critical scholars. Other explanations have therefore been advanced to account for the symbolism permeating the volume and the original motive for its writing.

  The Epistle to the Colossians is the twelfth book of the New Testament. It was written, according to the text, by Paul the Apostle and Timothy, and addressed to the church in Colossae, a small Phrygian city near Laodicea and approximately 100 miles from Ephesus in Asia Minor. Some scholars have increasingly questioned Paul's authorship and attributed the letter to an early follower instead, but others still defend it as authentic. If Paul was the author, he probably used an amanuensis, or secretary, in writing the letter possibly Timothy.

  "Superstition in All Ages" is a book written by French priest and philosopher Jean Meslier in the early 18th century. The book is a critique of religion and an argument for atheism. Meslier argues that religion, particularly Christianity, is based on superstition and that its claims cannot be proven. 
  Meslier's book is divided into two parts. The first part examines the origins of superstition and religion, arguing that they are based on fear, ignorance, and the desire for power. Meslier claims that the belief in supernatural beings and forces is a result of humanity's inability to explain natural phenomena, and that religion is a way for those in power to control and manipulate the masses. 
  The second part of the book is a direct attack on Christianity. Meslier argues that the Bible is a collection of myths and legends, and that its moral teachings are inconsistent and often immoral. He also critiques the Christian concept of God, arguing that it is illogical and contradictory. 
  Meslier's arguments were highly controversial in his time, and he was forced to keep his atheism a secret to avoid persecution. After his death, his manuscript was discovered and published, making him one of the earliest and most influential atheist thinkers in history.

  J.B. Rhine (1895 - 1980), widely considered to be the "Father of Modern Parapsychology," was the world’s leading investigator of psychic phenomena, ESP and the paranormal.
