Sinossi

Madame Bovary is the French writer Gustave Flaubert's debut novel. The story focuses on a doctor's wife, Emma Bovary, who has adulterous affairs and lives beyond her means in order to escape the banalities and emptiness of provincial life. Though the basic plot is rather simple, even archetypal, the novel's true art lies in its details and hidden patterns. Flaubert was a notorious perfectionist and claimed always to be searching for le mot juste ("the precise word").

Long established as one of the greatest novels ever written, the book has often been described as a "perfect" work of fiction. Henry James writes: "Madame Bovary has a perfection that not only stamps it, but that makes it stand almost alone; it holds itself with such a supreme unapproachable assurance as both excites and defies judgment." Giorgio de Chirico said that in his opinion "from the narrative point of view, the most perfect book is Madame Bovary by Flaubert".

A jury convicted him. The evidence tells a different story.

Small-town lawyer Marko Bauer and sharp-tongued associate Allee Smith aren't eager to risk another courtroom disaster—especially not for Byron, a convicted kidnapper swearing innocence from his jail cell.

But when a waitress at the Justice Bites restaurant brings them Byron's plea, something doesn't taste right. A sketchy voice ID, a basement crime scene that doesn’t exist, and a detective nursing grudges deeper than the county's riverbeds. Marko and Allee soon realize Byron might actually be telling the truth—this time.

Crafting a bold legal strategy, the duo pushes forward with a post-conviction relief hearing, hoping to secure Byron’s release. But freedom might unleash a darker side of Byron. His angry, entitled, and volatile demeanor is leaving those around him to wonder if they're freeing an innocent man—or releasing a ticking time bomb.

Marko and Allee soon confront a troubling realization: some clients should never see daylight again.

The Final Appeal, from Wall Street Journal bestselling author James Chandler and seasoned attorney Laura Snider, is a razor-sharp legal thriller brimming with justice, betrayal, and biting consequences. Perfect for fans of Michael Connelly and John Grisham.

Tommy Dash, an unapologetic 60-year-old scuffling LA stand-up comedian, is trying to apologize his way back into show business, one burnt bridge and one more last chance at a time, during the last days of Pre-Trump America. Think Lewis Black, but a little angrier. Think Sam Kinison on a coke budget. Think Bill Maher, without the cable filter. Think Amy Schumer, with a slightly smaller set of balls. Think Samsonite, but with less baggage. A lot of people are waiting for their apology. Ex-wives, daughters, soon-to-be former girlfriends and three generations of fellow comics, celebrities and industry people along the redemptive path. But here's the thing with Tommy Dash. Before you may or may not get a sorry, you get a story. And as Tommy will tell you, he is in it for the stories. And so are we. Despite lovingly referring to himself as a Category 4 shitstorm, we root for him and his emerging heart. We want to hear about the wreckage, sure, but we keep hoping he'll land safely. (Cover art: JoAnna Perrin) Vintage Scheft! I loved it, but that's a given.... - Larry David (Dedicated to the late Nikki Finke, Tommy Dash's first and most steadfast friend)
