Sinossi

When Durfee rode up the valley, he found that the country fitted his mind as a glove fits the hand—the sort of glove that he preferred to wear—a little lighter in the leather and more delicate in the make than most of the buckskin gloves that a cowboy will buy.
He liked the look of things, because that look was clean. He saw the gleam of water, here and there; water that looked as though it might be running even in the dry middle of September, after a rainless season. And there were plenty of hills for variety, and yet it was a range that a man could gallop over. Three men, on this sort of a lay, could do the work that sometimes took the riding of ten in worse regions. And then the grass grew thick and short on the ground, the sort of grass that is sweetest on a cow’s tooth, that lays the fat round and hard along her backbone, to say nothing of horses. It was a good limestone country, too. He could see the white ribs and elbows of the stone punching through the sides of the hills. And where limestone shows, it will be in the water, and the limestone water makes bone, and bone is the first necessity in the scheme of things, if you want to build a horse.

In a quaint tourist village, Dorn makes miniature scale models displayed in the local shops. Yet life is far from idyllic; he suffers under the thumb of a rich, philandering younger brother and an unloving father, and cannot find the courage to admit his love to Ravenna, the ungainly schoolteacher.
Life takes a strange turn when the government-sponsored "Wild Home Project" is introduced and wolves, rats, minks, otters, and bears move into villagers' homes. Soon, Dorn receives a mysterious commission, finds a body in a park, and has several run-ins with a former classmate-turned police officer. When fire breaks out, Dorn takes on the unlikely role of hero in the hope of changing the course of his life.
A realist novel with the air of a fairy tale, The Animals is a surprising, funny, and thought-provoking story that explores the nature of relationships faunal and human, and reminds us of the challenges of finding one's place in society . . . and that living with a wolf is not a very good idea.

AGE-GAP, ROUGH FIRST TIME, DIRTY PLEASURES & MORE
    Who is John?
John was a very sexy and buffed lead sales agent at my workplace. I'm not flirtatious. I'm young, married to Danny, always faithful but inexperienced in many, many things.
My husband was a "small" man, and he was all I've ever experienced. John was older, incredibly massive, dominant and divorced.
I didn't realize how inexperienced I was until I was having a naughty conversation with John. WOW! There was so much to experience!
I didn't even know if I would love it rough and hardcore.
John was willing to let me experience all that we talked about for the first time while teaching me a few things.
I wasn't sure I'd ever cheat though. Cheating just wasn't me and John would have to be really 'convincing'.
Well, it so happened that we met another couple, Rick and Debbie.
What new things did I learn? Well, let's just say a whole lot!
Ready to listen to all the juicy, dirty details of my story?

The very first sci fi, written at the height of people making stuff up and pretending it was history (looking at you, Herodotus). Nice to see the art of the spoof is so old...A True Story (Ancient Greek: Ἀληθῆ διηγήματα, Alēthē diēgēmata; Latin: Vera Historia or Latin: Verae Historiae), also translated as True History, is a long novella or short novel written in the second century AD by the Syrian author Lucian of Samosata. The novel is a satire of outlandish tales that had been reported in ancient sources, particularly those that presented fantastic or mythical events as if they were true. It is Lucian's best-known work.It is the earliest known work of fiction to include travel to outer space, alien lifeforms, and interplanetary warfare. It has been described as "the first known text that could be called science fiction". However, the work does not fit into typical literary genres: its multilayered plot and its characters have been interpreted as belonging to science fiction, fantasy, satire or parody, and have been the subjects of scholarly debate.- From the wiki:

I didn't get to be the head of the Di Salvo crime family by showing mercy. Just the opposite, in fact. Until I meet her. Thalia.

In my line of business, love is a liability. A weakness. Yet, every day Thalia is under my protection, I'm drawn closer to her warmth and soft-spoken words. This woman might just be my salvation.

When our enemies come knocking, I'll be ready to scorch the entire earth if it means keeping Thalia safe. They have no idea who they're messing with.

Empire's Fall: A Tale of Power, Privilege and Digital Disruption
In the opening pages of "Empires Fall," Jack Drummond stands on a balcony in Cape Town on the eve of the new millennium, watching police helicopters circle over township riots while his Danish girlfriend adjusts her bikini by the infinity pool. This striking juxtaposition - of privilege against upheaval, of personal drama against historical change - sets the tone for Ludo Stuart-Douglas's ambitious second installment in his Rake's Progress trilogy.
The novel charts the decade following the millennium, as Jack Drummond navigates personal tragedy, business reinvention, and the complex intersection of old and new money in a rapidly digitizing world. Stuart-Douglas, himself a veteran of both traditional advertising and digital pioneering, brings intimate knowledge to this territory. His portrayal of London's evolving business landscape feels particularly authentic, especially in his granular understanding of how traditional power structures adapt - or fail to adapt - to technological disruption.
Empires Fall" is ultimately a novel about adaptation - how individuals, businesses, and social structures either evolve or collapse in the face of change. Through Jack Drummond's story, Stuart-Douglas creates a compelling portrait of Britain's upper classes navigating the disruptions of the early 21st century. The result is a sophisticated and engaging work that functions both as a family drama and as a commentary on power, privilege, and technological change.

"A Reminiscence of Dr. Samuel Johnson" is a short story written in 1917 by American horror fiction writer H. P. Lovecraft. It was first published in the September 1917 issue of the United Amateur, under the pseudonym Humphrey Littlewit, Esq.The story is a spoof of Lovecraft's antiquarian affectations. Littlewit, the narrator, is born August 20, 1690–200 years to the day before Lovecraft's birthdate—making him nearly 228 years old as he writes a memoir.Critic Daniel Harms writes, "While not one of the most inspired of his pieces, it at least shows that HPL realized his pretensions... of being an older, cultured gentleman of an earlier era, and could make fun of himself."
