Sinossi

The collection, brings together the works that inspired the original NETFLIX series, directed by Louis Leterrier as well as the Hero, Assane Diop, performed by OMAR SY.

Slender, elegant, refined, seductive, Arsène Lupine, gentleman-burglar by trade, is the model of the "Belle Epoque" dandy. His intelligence, his culture, his talents as an illusionist between Fregoli and Robert-Houdin are at the service of an astonishing nerve. But this accomplished man of the world is also an anarchist at heart who plays with social conventions with marvelous insolence.

Arsène Lupine, gentleman-burglar is a collection of short stories written by Maurice Leblanc and recounting the adventures of Arsène Lupine.

The first short story of this collection was published in July 1905 in the newspaper Je sais tout. It was the first short story featuring Arsène Lupine. This one having success, Maurice Leblanc is encouraged to write the continuation, in several short stories. What will be done until 1907.

'Wintry Peacock' is, on the surface, a tale of misdirected love or even irresponsible love, the relationship between the wife and the peacock being the most strange but it is the conspiracy of the two men in the story to prevent the truth coming out about the husband's love child that is most disturbing. The innocent are punished and the guilty get away with their sins and the author goes laughing down the hill at the end of the story.

The plot involves love, loyalty, death and betrayal and all this is delivered to us in Hardy's most eloquent prose. The images of character and nature are painted for our mind's eye with sublime style.

A novel of the life of the defender of medieval France by the celebrated author of Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. She saved France when she was fourteen . . . She was burned at the stake for her efforts . . . Meet the girl who captured Mark Twain’s heart. A forgotten masterpiece from one of America’s greatest authors—and the last full-length novel he ever wrote—Joan of Arc follows the Savior of France from her childhood in Domrémy, to her campaigns throughout the French countryside, to her demise at the hands of the English and Burgundians. Mark Twain was sarcastic, witty, and oft-irreverent, but he had a soft spot for the Maid of Orléans. (As will you after you read this book!) He spent twelve years in research, two in writing, including multiple visits to the National Archives in Paris, and proclaimed Joan of Arc the “best of all my books!” If you love well-written classics of stunning historical figures, then this is the book for you.

Despite the reshifting of values that has affected every aspect of life in the 21st century, William Shakespeare still stands as the greatest writer the English language has ever produced. Even so, many people have never read him. If you have never read “the Bard”—or if you’ve tried and given up in frustration—you need Shakespeare For Beginners.Author Brandon Toropov opens with the observation that Shakespeare’s genius is not in his (or England’s) history, it’s in his words, most notably, his plays—in his brilliant stories, unforgettable characters, and the impossible beauty of his language. So, Shakespeare For Beginners skips the historical foreplay and goes straight to Shakespeare’s plays. The book offers clear, concise descriptions and plot summaries of each play; it lists key phrases and important themes, explains the main ideas behind each work and features excerpt of important passages (with explanatory notes on tough words.) And it is the only ‘entry level’ book available outside Great Britain that covers all of Shakespeare’s plays.
