  I watched the 1951 version of A Christmas Carol again and it prompted me to write the first novel in this series. I love the story and have watched every version of it, but the 1951 version is my favourite. It was made long before most of us were born but it seems to capture the spirit of Charles Dickens’s book if you know what I mean. I hope Mr Dickens will forgive me for my spanking version.

Set in the Dutch settlement of Tarry Town, New York, in a secluded glen called Sleepy Hollow, it tells the story of Ichabod Crane, a lanky and superstitious schoolmaster. Crane is enamored with the beautiful Katrina Van Tassel but must contend with a rival suitor, Brom Bones. After attending a party at Katrina's home, Crane encounters the ghostly figure of the Headless Horseman, rumored to be the ghost of a Hessian soldier who lost his head in battle and now roams the area. The tale is rich with folklore, humor, and a sense of the supernatural, capturing the eerie atmosphere of a colonial American village.
