Sinossi

Hate Crime Charges delves into the intricate world of hate crime law, exploring the definition, prosecution, and enhanced penalties associated with bias-motivated violence. It examines how the legal system differentiates these crimes from other offenses, emphasizing the importance of this distinction for justice and social harmony. The book addresses the historical roots of hate crime legislation, tracing its evolution and pointing out the critical need for clarity in understanding hate crime law, while also detailing the emotional and psychological damage inflicted on communities.

The book navigates the challenges prosecutors face in proving bias motivation, including evidence gathering and witness testimony. It draws upon legal statutes, court decisions, law enforcement data, and academic research to support its arguments. One intriguing aspect highlighted is the difficulty in proving bias beyond a reasonable doubt, emphasizing the necessity for specialized training for law enforcement. The chapters progress logically, starting with legal definitions, moving to prosecutorial challenges, and culminating in an analysis of enhanced penalties and policy recommendations.

Ultimately, the book argues that hate crime laws, while crucial, require clear and consistent application. It acknowledges ongoing debates surrounding these laws, including concerns about freedom of speech, aiming to foster a more informed discussion about addressing hate crimes effectively. This book uniquely focuses on practical challenges, offering valuable insights for legal professionals, policymakers, and anyone seeking to combat hate and promote equality.

What evidence is there that evil entities can possess human beings and force them to commit horrific murders?

Black magic murders, Satanic sex cults and demonic possession are the diabolical practices that grab the tabloid headlines and reinforce the myth that evil and an unhealthy obsession with the occult are to blame for our increasingly violent society. But is the truth even darker and more disturbing?

From tribal magic and shamanism, through the work of WB Yeats and Aleister Crowley, to black magic rituals and New Age Nihilists, The Dark History of the Occult asks whether 'Satanic forces' are simply the emergence of the dark side of human nature, or whether we really have something to fear - namely, evil?

Russell Bufalino was considered the most powerful Mob boss of his day, if not all time. But until now, no one has ever traced Russell's career back to the coal fields of Northeastern Pennsylvania, or explored the legacy of the Pittston crime family Russell would inherit. Charles Bufalino, cousin and caretaker of the family's explosive history, offers the most authentic and probable solution to the greatest Mob mystery of all time: What really happened to Jimmy Hoffa?Stretching back to the Bufalino roots in Sicily and the emigration of the men of Montedoro to the turn-of-the-nineteenth-century Pennsylvania coal fields, this gripping story lays the groundwork for the inception of an organized crime empire. Once in America, the Bufalinos penetrated both sides of the labor-versus-management conflict to magnify their own power and ultimately influence events on the national stage. By the 1950s, Russell would be named boss—the Don of all Dons. Blood ties and extended family were his to control. Likewise, his enemies, including Teamsters president, Jimmy Hoffa.Delving deeply into corroborated family documentation, Charles Bufalino separates fact from fiction and corrects the presumed history of his ruthlessly enterprising ancestors to paint an intimate portrait of one of the most storied crime families of the twentieth century.

In the late 19th century, Indian Territory became part of the new State of Oklahoma and tribal lands were gradually reduced in size, but on some of the lands assigned to the Osage, which became Osage County, something very dramatic happened: oil was discovered. At first, that didn’t seem too important - in the 1880s, oil was useful but wasn’t the source of wealth it would later become. However, the rise of the automobile changed everything. In 1900, there were only around 4,000 automobiles registered in America, but by 1908, there were over 60,000, and by the early 1920s, there were over 15 million. Every single one needed fuel and lubricants that came from oil, and as a result, “black gold” became one of the most valuable commodities on Earth.
For the Osage, the explosion in demand for oil brought unimaginable wealth. In 1923 alone, the Osage Nation received over $30 million in oil revenue, worth over $400 million in current value, and individual members of the tribe became extremely wealthy. Unscrupulous people began to plot how they could get their hands on some of this wealth.
    	Then the murders began.
In the early 1920s, members of the Osage Nation and others began to turn up dead, and in many cases, the proceeds of oil revenue owned by these people passed to white “Guardians” appointed by the federal government. By 1925, at least 24 Osage had died in unexplained circumstances, and some accounts suggest that the actual number may have been over 100. Local law enforcement seemed unable (or perhaps unwilling) to investigate effectively, and it was left to a small bureau in Washington to undertake their first homicide investigation under the leadership of a dynamic and ambitious young lawyer named J. Edgar Hoover. As a result, the horrifying true story of the Osage County murders became one of the first assignments for the federal agency that would later become the FBI.
