    So that happened…
And there we all thought that the outbreak of the zombie apocalypse would be the worst event of the year.
That was before we factored in that we must have gotten lost in the garbage-people timeline where only the strong survive—and usually not those portraying strength of character.
But that isn’t even my main issue right now. With fall in full swing and winter fast approaching, food and other resources are not just limited but actually getting really hard to come by.
    Food…
Don’t even get me started on that.
Now that it boils down to survival of the assholes, decisions have to be made and sacrifices are in order. And as much as I would like to keep my firm stance on the moral high ground, I’m really not that fond of the consequences. If only there was an alternate solution for my problems… but as I’ve recently found out, that comes with its own massive downsides.
If only that wasn’t so damn tempting, now that I’m hungry all the time…
    So damn hungry…

Set in a haunted castle, the novel merged medievalism and terror in a style that has endured ever since. The aesthetic of the book has shaped modern-day gothic books, films, art, music and the goth subculture.

When a young pair of newlyweds settle down into a small cottage in a quiet village, they look forward to a pleasant, pastoral life of domestic bliss.
The husband, a practical man, dismisses the superstitious maid's tale of an ancient curse about the local church's marble statues, which come to life each year on All Saints' Eve to wreak revenge.
But then, on the fateful night, he discovers that the stone slabs on which the knights rest are empty. Is his young bride in peril?
A gripping tale of suspense and terror which shows a very different side of this famous children's book author, best-known for her Edwardian fantasies.
