A fresh and inspiring account of history’s most important Church builder – from his perspective.
Far from the untouchable images of heaven-gazing saints, the apostle Paul ruthlessly focused on his earthly duty to build God’s Church. Before his dramatic conversion he had violently tried to stamp out a heretical sect of Jews – the first Christians. But Paul’s encounter with Christ turned his boundless energy to building the young and fragile Church into an established and enduring body.
For many modern Christians, Paul’s eagerness to act for the Lord, willingness to face danger, and seemingly inexhaustible zeal make him the very model of Godly purpose. But Paul was not perfected on the Road to Damascus. He was human, with a life that spanned decades of personal and spiritual development.
Taking the Bible as literal Truth, Paul’s Journal offers readers the opportunity to walk with this pivotal messenger of Christ, from the Acts to the letters and beyond. Presented as a first-hand account, it places Paul’s familiar voice within enriching historical and cultural contexts that will engage and edify any Christian.
Shining a new light on his life from persecutor to martyr, this may be the second-best narrative of Paul ever written.

Heaven is multiethnic. Are you ready for that?

The Bible tells us that the congregation gathered around God's heavenly throne will be "a vast multitude from every nation, tribe, people, and language," all singing the praises of the Lamb. God's intention has always been to delight for all eternity in a redeemed community of ethnic diversity.

But this diverse community shouldn't have to wait until eternity to begin! It can be a reality in our own local churches here and now. Patterned after a worship service, In Church as It Is in Heaven gives biblical warrant for such a community and shows how multiethnic churches provide a unique apologetic for the gospel. Along the way, the authors tell the story of their own church—a majority-white congregation which is being transformed into a family that reflects the diversity of heaven.

The multiethnic kingdom is not just a nice idea, or an abstract theory. It's a reality—one we can enter into today.

Like most things we take for granted, the Catholic Creeds have an amazing story—actually a lot of stories. What seem a simple prayers or statementa of faith have fascinating origins. And there is a reason each Creed is so precisely worded the way it is, each word having been fought over with great passion: the Creeds had to be worded just right. This little book is an introduction to the struggles and heresies concerning the truth, as well as the men who fought to hand it down to us. The Catholic Faith: An Introduction to the Creeds discusses important questions like these:  Why are they called "Creeds," and how were they used in the early Church? What were the fights, debates and struggles involved in hammering out the Creeds? Why do Christians have a formal statement of their beliefs when other world religions don’t?Are the words and concepts of the Creeds found in Scripture, and if so, where? What is the one most crucial, fought-over, and non-biblical word in the Nicene Creed? What are the four important “marks” of the true Church that distinguish it from sects and denominations? What is the significance of the Creeds' emphasis on the bodily resurrection?
Also included are fascinating facts, historical development, arguments for defending the faith, a biblical summary, and much more!
Knowing the story behind the Creeds brings to life our fascinating history and beliefs. This book introduces the Creeds as both a prayer and a personal commitment. Here you have the summary of Catholic doctrine in a nutshell: easy to read, memorize, and practice.

Casper ter Kuile, a Harvard Divinity School fellow and cohost of the popular Harry Potter and the Sacred Text podcast, explores how we can nourish our souls by transforming common, everyday practices—yoga, reading, walking the dog—into sacred rituals that can heal our crisis of social isolation and struggle to find purpose—a message we need more than ever for our spiritual and emotional well-being in the age of COVID-19.

“After half a decade of research and hundreds of conversations with people around the country, I am convinced we are in the midst of a paradigm shift. That what used to hold us in community no longer works, and that the spiritual offerings of yesteryear no longer help us thrive.”–Casper ter Kuile
What do Soul Cycle, gratitude journals, and tech breaks have in common? For ter Kuile they offer rituals that create the foundation for our modern spiritual lives.
We are in crisis today. Our modern technological society has left too many of us—no matter our ages—feeling isolated and bereft of purpose. Previous frameworks for building community and finding meaning no longer support us. Yet ter Kuile reveals a hopeful new message: we might not be religious, but that doesn’t mean we are any less spiritual.
Instead, we are in the midst of a paradigm shift in which we seek belonging and meaning in secular practices. Today, we find connection in:CrossFit and SoulCycle, which offer a sense of belonging rooted in accountability and support much like church groupsHarry Potter and other beloved books that offer universal lessons Gratitude journals, which have replaced traditional prayer Tech breaks, which provide mindful moments of calm
In The Power of Ritual, ter Kuile invites us to deepen these ordinary practices as intentional rituals that nurture connection and  wellbeing. With wisdom and endearing wit, ter Kuile’s call for ritual is ultimately a call to heal our loss of connection to ourselves, to others, and to our spiritual identities.
The Power of Ritual reminds us that what we already do every day matters—and has the potential to become a powerful experience of reflection, sanctuary, and meaning.
