The Monster Maker by Ray Bradbury - "Get Gunther," the official orders read. It was to laugh! For Click and Irish were marooned on the pirate's asteroid—their only weapons a single gun and a news-reel camera.
Suddenly, it was there. There wasn't time to blink or speak or get scared. Click Hathaway's camera was loaded and he stood there listening to it rack-spin film between his fingers, and he knew he was getting a damned sweet picture of everything that was happening.
The picture of Marnagan hunched huge over the control-console, wrenching levers, jamming studs with freckled fists. And out in the dark of the fore-part there was space and a star-sprinkling and this meteor coming like blazing fury.
Click Hathaway felt the ship move under him like a sensitive animal's skin. And then the meteor hit. It made a spiked fist and knocked the rear-jets flat, and the ship spun like a cosmic merry-go-round.
There was plenty of noise. Too damned much. Hathaway only knew he was picked up and hurled against a lever-bank, and that Marnagan wasn't long in following, swearing loud words. Click remembered hanging on to his camera and gritting to keep holding it. What a sweet shot that had been of the meteor! A sweeter one still of Marnagan beating hell out of the controls and keeping his words to himself until just now.
It got quiet. It got so quiet you could almost hear the asteroids rushing up, cold, blue and hard. You could hear your heart kicking a tom-tom between your sick stomach and your empty lungs.
Stars, asteroids revolved. Click grabbed Marnagan because he was the nearest thing, and held on. You came hunting for a space-raider and you ended up cradled in a slab-sized Irishman's arms, diving at a hunk of metal death. What a fade-out!
"Irish!" he heard himself say. "Is this IT?"
"Is this what?" yelled Marnagan inside his helmet.
"Is this where the Big Producer yells CUT!?"

Author Andrew Weiner's book Down by the River: A Family Fly Fishing Story is “an authentic, heartwarming story with a focus on family and togetherness” (Kirkus, starred review).

One beautiful autumn day, Art sets out with his mother and grandfather for a fishing trip. Fishing days are Art’s favorite. He loves learning the ropes from Grandpa—the different kinds of flies and tackle and the trout that frequent their favorite river.

Art especially appreciates Grandpa’s stories. But, this time, hearing the story about Mom’s big catch on her first cast ever makes Art feel insecure about his own fishing skills.

Then, as Art hooks a beautiful brown trout, he finds reassurance in Grandpa’s stories and marvels in the sport and a day spent with family, promising to continue the tradition with his own grandkids generations later.

    YOUNG BLACKBEARD THE PIRATE
    PORT OF BRISTOL 1690
Book 3 of 6 – The curse of the lemonade stand
Here is the summary description of this book:
In 1690s Bristol, young Edward Teach—the boy who would become the infamous pirate Blackbeard—leads his crew in a daring lemonade stand scheme at the bustling High Cross market. Using stolen sugar and Anne Bonny’s over-sweetened brew, they attract sailors and merchants alike—until a rival vendor accuses them of sugar theft, a crime punishable by transportation. Facing the constable, Edward spins a tale of the "Sugar Witch," a Barbados hag who curses their lemonade, and sells "anti-curse" potions (dyed with stolen cochineal) to the superstitious crowd. The deception works, earning them enough coin for future adventures while showcasing Edward’s early knack for manipulation and theatrics—traits that would later define Blackbeard’s reign of terror. The story blends historical details of Bristol’s sugar trade and maritime culture with a playful origin for history’s most notorious pirate, proving even legends start small.
This is the third of six audiobooks in the series and I do hope you enjoy this instalment, and it's only $3, all subsequent will remain at that price.
I have worked very hard and meticulously to provide you with an enjoyable experience, the initial opening credit music which does run to approximately 2 minutes sets the scene, so to speak, accordion, fiddle, harmonica and bango in a classical sea shanty jig. The closing music ends the tale on a similar jig and at about 2 minutes with the same musical instruments but more upbeat looking forward to the next episode.
The story itself runs to about 13 minutes is is narrated in my own voice.
I do hope you enjoy this audiobook and let me know what you think, there are a lot more to come!
