    THE SUTHERLAND SCANDALS 1890
The story opens in Newcastle, Northern England, and we meet J.B. Sutherland—brewer and eventually the owner of the Victorian pub by the River Tyne, The Barley Mow. The family saga is told by his middle daughter, Elizabeth, whose childhood is wonderful until her father suddenly dies, and their eldest illegitimate brother, John Thomas, shows up at their father's funeral to inherit the pub.
Elizabeth is an artistic soul, often at odds with her overpowering older sisters, and she loathes her oldest brother, who takes over the pub by gambling away the profits (Scandal 1). They lose their livelihood and home; the pub must close.
Elizabeth manages to find jobs to keep food on the table, first helping an elderly lady, then with the suffragist movement, designing their posters and promoting their cause. During this time she meets the love of her life: a marine fitter, Percy Neil-Gregory (Scandal 2 according to her sisters, who believe she is marrying beneath her), who, like her, has a dark secret in his family. She married Percy after a long friendship, despite her sisters' disapproval.
During the start of the 19th century, to give her family security, Elizabeth continued to work even when she had her first child, Alice Neil-Gregory. Percy, without discussing it with her, sailed to the USA with her youngest brother, Benjamin, to try and make his fortune (Scandal 3).
With her husband away, she finds herself pregnant for the second time. After many long months of pleading, on the day of her baby Marjorie's birthday, Percy returned from the USA. They move to Yorkshire with their family for a better job; with her saved inheritance from her share of the pub, they are able to buy a small house in Hull. As Elizabeth's daughters grow up, they become skilled in music and drama, and Elizabeth keeps working to pay for their classes. Alice becomes a soubrette on the stages of theatres, and Marjorie, the family seamstress, sews and designs costumes.

Clever, humane, affectionate and realistic crime writing at its best. Maxim Jakubowski. Introducing a unique and unorthodox crime solving duo - ex Met DI Jim Domino, and his inquisitive six-year-old grandson, Danny. When a woman is found unconscious on a ping-pong table in Peckham's Warwick Gardens, it looks like a case of mistaken identity. Why would anyone want to injure this popular local mum of six? But Jim Domino, retired CID detective turned private eye, keeps asking questions. As the crime escalates to murder, Domino's investigations take him to the leafy Thames Valley, and plunge him into a dark world of ruthless people-traffickers and drug dealers. How might these sinister activities be linked to the Peckham murder? Assisted by sharp observations from his six-year-old grandson, Danny, Domino finds that important clues can come from unexpected sources. The Lady in the Park is about the good in most people, and about love, grief and childhood. Take a trip to Primrose Hall in this uplifting romantic read from bestselling author Jill Steeples
Homes don’t come much more idyllic than Primrose Hall. Set against the backdrop of the beautiful Primrose Woods, Pia Temple still has to pinch herself that she gets to wake up there every day.
Waking up next to Jackson Moody is pretty great too. Ever since the couple rekindled their teenage romance, they’ve become an unstoppable team running Primrose Hall’s packed calendar of events, surrounded by the friends and family who make up the crew at the hall.
But not everything is perfect at Primrose Hall. Pia is beset with doubts about the future, especially when a new arrival shakes everything Jackson thought he knew about his past. And as the events come thick and fast – a literary festival, craft fayres, bonfire night and the much-anticipated Christmas Carols evening – everything Pia is juggling threatens to tumble down around her.
Will the year at Primrose Hall be a time of endings or new beginnings…
Starry Skies Over Primrose Hall is the perfect romantic escape into the Primrose Woods series. If you love Cathy Bramley, Heidi Swain and Julie Houston you'll want to read Jill Steeples' stories!

    1682

But these are dangerous times for dreamers, and rumours and gossip can be deadly. One mis-move and Grace’s fate looks set…
Separated by three hundred years, two women are drawn together by a home bathed in blood and magic. Grace Cotter’s spirit needs to rest, and only Selena can help her now.
USA Today bestselling author Judy Leigh writing as Elena Collins, brings you this unforgettable, heart-breaking, gripping timeslip novel set in a world when women were hung as witches, and fates could be sealed by a wrong word. Perfect for fans of Barbara Erskine, Diana Gabaldon and Louise Douglas.
    Praise for Elena Collins:
'A profoundly moving, beautifully written and emotional story that skilfully combines two time frames into one unputdownable book. I was completely immersed in Grace’s story from the beginning: despite it taking place 400 years ago. The modern day storyline was also delightful with some wonderful characters. In short a wonderful book by a fabulous author, very highly recommended' Louise Douglas
'With two storylines beautifully woven together to create a seamless tale of love, loss, betrayal and, above all, hope, it’s a must-read. Collins’s detailed knowledge of the period trickles through the tale wrapping the reader in a vivid shifting world as it moves between the 14th century and present day. Cleverly researched and exquisitely written, The Lady of The Loch is a timeless story of hope, family and love. I loved it' Alexandra Walsh
'Such a lovely story of love, hardship, loss & renewal. Heartbreaking yet comforting. A place where I would love to go to and be lost in its memories' ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Reader Review
