Sinossi

Within the sleek walls of the Chronos Institute, sleep isn't just studied—it's manipulated. Dr. Sarah Harper, a brilliant neuroscientist, stumbles upon a disturbing symphony of synchronized dreams, a pattern too perfect to be natural.  Her investigation into these anomalies unearths the Somnium Collective, a clandestine organization weaving a dangerous dream: to harvest the raw essence of human consciousness and reshape reality itself.Sarah finds herself caught in a web of intrigue, where cutting-edge science clashes with unsettling ethics.  Her pursuit of truth leads her to Justin Kennedy, a former colleague and the spark of a past attraction, now a key player in the Collective's audacious plan. His brilliance, once a source of admiration, now fuels her unease. Can she trust him, or is he complicit in a scheme that threatens the very fabric of individual identity?Teaming up with Douglas Lee, a seasoned investigative journalist who has been tracking the Collective's shadowy movements for years, Sarah delves deeper into their hidden facility nestled deep within the Cascade Mountains.  There, in technologically advanced pods, dreamers lie suspended, their subconscious landscapes meticulously mapped and harvested. The dream archetypes—visions of interconnectedness and transcendence—mirror near-death experiences, blurring the line between enlightenment and manipulation.  Is the Collective ushering in a utopian future or a dystopian nightmare where individual consciousness is sacrificed at the altar of manufactured unity? As the Collective’s grand design nears fruition, Sarah and Lee race against time to expose their deception. They uncover a shocking truth: the charismatic leader, Adrian Lopez, isn't driven by altruism but by a desperate bid for his own survival.  The collective consciousness isn't a path to salvation; it's his twisted key to immortality. With the fate of human consciousness hanging in the balance, Sarah faces a moral dilemma: expose the Collective and risk societal chaos, or find a way to dismantle their operation without revealing its existence. In a climactic showdown, Justin, torn between loyalty and conscience, makes a pivotal choice that could alter the course of human evolution. The world teeters on the precipice of a collective dream, unaware of the silent battle being waged for its soul.  In the end, the question isn't whether we will dream together, but whether we will be allowed to dream alone.

    The Secret Agent

"The Secret Agent" is a novel written by Joseph Conrad, and published in 1907. The story is set in London in the late nineteenth century and revolves around a group of anarchists and their plot to detonate a bomb at Greenwich Observatory. The novel explores themes such as terrorism, politics, morality, and betrayal. The novel's protagonist is Adolf Verloc, a seemingly unremarkable man who owns a small shop selling pornographic materials. However, he is also a secret agent working for an unnamed foreign embassy. Verloc is tasked with infiltrating a group of anarchists and providing intelligence on their activities.
The novel introduces several characters, including Verloc's wife Winnie, her mentally disabled brother Stevie, and the anarchists' leader, known as The Professor. As Verloc becomes more deeply involved with the anarchists, he is torn between his duty to his employer and his loyalty to his new friends.

The novel takes a critical view of both anarchism and the British intelligence service, questioning the morality of using violence to achieve political ends. The character of The Professor embodies the dark side of anarchism, as he is willing to sacrifice innocent lives for the sake of his political agenda. The novel also explores the complex relationships between the characters. Verloc's marriage to Winnie is strained, and his involvement in the anarchist plot only exacerbates their problems. Stevie is a sympathetic character, and his death at the hands of Verloc is a tragic turning point in the novel. Conrad's writing style is dense and complex, with a strong emphasis on psychological realism. He delves deep into the minds of his characters, exploring their motivations and fears. The novel also features Conrad's signature use of symbolism, with the Greenwich Observatory representing the watchful eye of society, and the bomb representing the destructive power of anarchism.

Princess Fiona is a political hostage in a gilded cage, a pawn in a game between her tyrannical father and a desperate prince. She lives in a world bleeding out from the Withering, a magical plague her father has learned to weaponize. Her only hope—and the kingdom’s—lies in an ancient prophecy: four lost heirs must unite in a Convergence to heal the land. But within the secret archives of her prison, Fiona uncovers a horrifying truth. The prophecy is a lie.
Across the blighted kingdom, a charismatic rebel leader searches for the other heirs, clinging to the prophecy as a banner of hope. His quest leads him to a broken mercenary with a terrifying, untamed fire burning in her soul, a woman who despises saviors and trusts only steel. They are all pieces of a puzzle they don't understand, hunted by kings and princes who would use them for their own ends. For the prophecy does not call for heroes; it demands a sacrifice. Three heirs are destined to be the fuel, and the fourth, a vessel for a ritual that will not save the world, but break it.
As a terrifying vision reveals the true face of their enemy—a shadowy mastermind orchestrating their doom to achieve godhood—the game is shattered. Alliances fracture, loyalties are betrayed, and empires crumble into chaos. Scattered, hunted, and armed with a devastating truth, the four heirs must now race against time and a looming war to forge their own destiny. They must find an alternative path to salvation before the architect of their ruin claims his throne and their world is plunged into an age of unending darkness.

“Bunner Sisters,” like “The Age of Innocence” is set in 1870s New York, however the lives of Ann Eliza and Evelina Bunner reflect impoverished New York. The sisters run a "very small shop, in a shabby basement, in a sidestreet already doomed to decline." Shabby as it is, the sisters are happy in their small orderly community of supportive women. The story tells of the destruction of this life, and how the once content sisters are thrown into the realistic world outside of their little shop. (Summary by Margaret)

Mara Ellison has always trusted numbers. They behave. They follow rules. They tell the truth—if you know how to read them.
    Until one night, they don’t.
A routine analysis reveals a pattern that shouldn’t exist—transactions too precise, too deliberate, threaded through layers of legitimate business like something designed not just to move money, but to hide in plain sight. Hours later, Mara returns home to find her door unlocked, her system accessed, and the quiet certainty of her life replaced by a question she can’t ignore:
    Who knows what she found?
With no safe way forward inside her own company, Mara is pulled into the orbit of FBI agent Cole Danner, a man operating in the shadows of an investigation he won’t fully explain. He is controlled, guarded, and always watching—yet the deeper Mara is drawn into his world, the harder it becomes to separate the danger around her from the tension building between them.
At the center of it all is Adrian Voss—brilliant, powerful, and dangerously persuasive—a man who doesn’t just build systems, but people, drawing them in, understanding them, reshaping them until they no longer remember where the line was. When Voss turns his attention to Mara, he sees not a threat—but potential.
And Mara begins to realize something far more unsettling than the system she uncovered:
    Part of her understands it.
As the walls close in and the stakes escalate from exposure to survival, Mara must navigate a world where control is an illusion, trust is a liability, and the most dangerous move isn’t stepping too far—
It’s realizing how close she came to choosing the wrong side.
