Sinopsis

Impulse Control explores how mastering impulse control is crucial for addiction relapse prevention. This book uniquely combines neuroscience, psychology, and behavioral economics to offer practical strategies.

Did you know addiction fundamentally alters brain function, weakening impulse control? Understanding the neurobiological mechanisms, such as the role of dopamine and the prefrontal cortex, can significantly aid in managing addictive behaviors.

The book emphasizes that relapse often stems from impaired impulse control, not just a lack of willpower. It presents evidence-based techniques like mindfulness-based interventions and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) tailored for craving management.

Furthermore, it highlights the reward deficiency syndrome and incentive sensitization theory, providing insights into impulsive reactions. The book progresses systematically, starting with the science behind impulse control, then moving to specific training techniques, and finally, showcasing real-world case studies.

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was an Indian attorney, anti-colonial patriot, and political ethicist who used nonviolent resistance to lead the triumphant struggle for India's independence from British rule, motivating civil liberties and liberty movements around the globe. The epithet Mahtm (which means "great-souled" or "age-old" in Sanskrit) was at first appointed to him in South Africa in the year 1914 and is now used all across the world.
Gandhi was born into a Hindu family in seaside Gujarat and studied law at the Inner Temple in London.
In the year 1893, he came to South Africa to represent an Indian business owner in a case after 2 years in India, where he was not able to establish a rewarding law practice.
He spent the next 21 years of his life in South Africa. Gandhi raised his family here and was the first to use nonviolent resistance in a civil liberties struggle.
He went back to India in the year 1915, at the age of 45. He started setting in motion peasants, farmers, and city workers to fight oppression and high land taxes. Gandhi led statewide projects to reduce poverty, promote women's rights, build spiritual and ethnic amity, get rid of untouchability, and, above all, accomplish swaraj, or self-rule, after presuming management of the Indian National Congress in the year 1921.
Gandhi has meant much for the peace, the independence, and the culture of India, as well as his acts of non-violent resistance that have influenced the world. Let’s take a look at what else he did.

Governing a Continent takes readers inside the real machinery of large-scale rule—where institutions outlast leaders, where roads and courts shape daily routines, and where culture, science, and trade knit diverse peoples into a common future. Through vivid analysis and human-centered storytelling, the book reveals how stable governance is built not only by grand strategy but by dependable services, fair laws, resilient budgets, and inclusive rituals.
Spanning provincial administration, taxation, logistics, military pluralism, legal pluralism, court ceremony, work and markets, art and identity, and the governance of knowledge and time, this volume shows how empires and federations maintain continuity through crisis and change. It explains how legitimacy is earned every day—at border posts and bus stops, in clinics and classrooms, through the choices of judges, engineers, quartermasters, and archivists.

From an award-winning journalist comes a vivid and moving portrait of eight
trans and nonbinary teenagers across the country, following their daily
triumphs, struggles, and all that encompasses growing up trans in America
    today.
Media coverage tends to sensationalize the fight over how trans kids should be
allowed to live, but what is incredibly rare are the voices of the people at the
heart of this debate: transgender and gender nonconforming kids themselves. For
their groundbreaking new book, journalist Nico Lang spent a year traveling the
country to document the lives of transgender, nonbinary, and genderfluid teens
    and their families.
From the tip of Florida’s conservative panhandle to vibrant queer communities in
California, and from Texas churches to mosques in Illinois, American Teenager
gives readers a window into the lives of Wyatt, Rhydian, Mykah, Clint, Ruby,
Augie, Jack, and Kylie, eight teens who, despite what some lawmakers might want
us to believe, are truly just kids looking for a brighter future. Drawing on hundreds
of hours of on-the-ground interviews with them and the people in their
communities, American Teenager paints a vivid portrait of what it’s actually like to
    grow up trans today.
“With humor and compassion, Lang shows trans teenagers as they really are: kids
trying their best, day by day, to grow into their truest selves and fullest
potential.”—Maia Kobabe, author of Gender Queer: A Memoir
