Sinopsis

In the wake of the blockbuster television success of "Dancing with the Stars," competitive ballroom dance has become a subject of new fascination—and renewed scrutiny. Known by its practitioners as DanceSport, ballroom is a significant dance form and a fascinating cultural phenomenon. In this first in-depth study of the sport, dancer and dance historian Juliet McMains explores the "Glamour Machine" that drives the thriving industry, delving into both the pleasures and perils of its seductions. She further explores the broader social issues invoked in American DanceSport: representation of "Latin," economics that often foster inequality, and issues of identity, including gender, race, class, and sexuality. Putting ballroom dance in the larger contexts of culture and history, Glamour Addiction makes an important contribution to dance studies, while giving new and veteran enthusiasts a unique and unprecedented glimpse behind the scenes.

Simulated Lives: Are We Already Living in a Matrix?
Have you ever felt that reality is not quite what it seems? What if everything around you—your experiences, your beliefs, your very existence—is an intricate illusion, a sophisticated simulation crafted to keep you unaware and controlled? "Simulated Lives: Are We Already Living in a Matrix?" takes you on a deep, provocative journey into the possibility that our world is nothing more than a digital construct. This groundbreaking book is not just an exploration of the Simulation Hypothesis; it is a call to awaken from the slumber of the mind and reclaim your reality.
Drawing from cutting-edge scientific theories, philosophical insights, and the latest technological advancements, this book challenges the very fabric of our existence. Are we mere code in a cosmic program run by advanced civilizations, future humans, or artificial superintelligence? Are phenomena like déjà vu, the Mandela Effect, and quantum entanglement the glitches in a sophisticated digital system? Are AI, virtual reality, and augmented reality the first steps toward a deeper digital imprisonment?
With a compelling narrative, "Simulated Lives" leads you through the implications of living in a simulated reality, the battle for consciousness, and the ultimate revolution of awareness. This is not just a book; it is a manifesto for those who dare to question the nature of their existence, who seek to break free from the illusion, and who are ready to choose between freedom and control.
Are you prepared to take the red pill and see how deep the rabbit hole goes? Discover the truth and join the awakening.

Throughout his presidency at the beginning of the 19th century, Thomas Jefferson had worried about the future of the western U.S., seeing that settlements in the Ohio Valley and lower South relied upon the Mississippi River. France’s controls over the region, in his estimation, put the U.S. at a severe disadvantage. His solution proved successful beyond his wildest imagination, for Napoleon did not only sell New Orleans to the U.S, the portion that Jefferson instructed his ministers to make an offer on, but all of “New France,” the entire area of Louisiana. Jefferson might have said later that his purchase of the territory “strained” but did not “break” the Constitution, but also should have boasted that, with one stroke, he had removed one less obstacle to American expansionism. The Louisiana Purchase encompassed all or part of 15 current U.S. states and two Canadian provinces, and it allowed Jefferson to plan something he had talked about since taking office: an expedition deep into the unmapped and largely unknown continent with the final destination being the Pacific Ocean. This could prove the most significant of the goals that Jefferson - a person who thought of himself as a scientifically-minded thinker - wanted to accomplish as president.
In the aftermath of the Louisiana Purchase, the Lewis and Clark expedition was a much-heralded blow for American rights in the face of international competition, but that was only one of four expeditions authorized by Jefferson. Four years before Lewis and Clark set off, an army officer from New Jersey led two long-distance treks, one northward to the headwaters of the Mississippi River and the other to the Southwest. These were the only expeditions authorized by Jefferson while they were already en route, planned and launched by subordinates within the military. Indeed, the career of Zebulon Pike was “dominated by ambiguously motivated explorations of the American West.”

How can we rethink teaching practices to include and engage the whole student? What would student experience look like if we integrated silence and feeling with empirical analysis? Tuning the Student Mind is the story of one teacher's attempt to answer these questions by creating an innovative college course that marries the spiritual and the theoretical, integrating meditation and self-reflection with more conventional academic curriculum. The book follows Molly Beauregard and her students on their intellectual and spiritual journey over the course of a semester in her class, "Consciousness, Creativity, and Identity." Interweaving personal stories, student writing, and Beauregard's responses, along with recommendations for further reading and a research appendix, it makes the case for the transformative power of consciousness-centered education. Written in a warm, engaging voice that reflects Beauregard's teaching style, Tuning the Student Mind provides an accessible, step-by-step template for other educators, while inviting readers more broadly to reconnect with the joy of learning in and beyond the classroom.
