Sinossi

From Bestselling Author John Piper: 27 Biographies of Notable Figures from Church History, including Augustine, John Calvin, and Martin Luther
Throughout church history, the faithful ministries of Christian leaders—though full of struggle, sin, and weakness—have magnified the worth and majesty of God. Their lives and teachings are still profoundly relevant. Their voices live on in the stories we read and tell today.
In this book, John Piper celebrates the lives of 27 such leaders from church history, offering a close look at their perseverance amidst opposition, weakness, and suffering. Let the resilience of these faithful but flawed saints inspire you toward a life of Christ-exalting courage, passion, and joy.

A Humanist Christmas is a collection of heartfelt stories originally shared with friends and family in the form of Christmas letters. Written with warmth and wit, these tales capture the joy, challenges, and small miracles the season. It is a book about Christmas Past – with memories sweet and bittersweet -- and about Christmas Present – reflections on artificial trees and artificial intelligence -- and about Christmas Future—how our dark times may be lightened by the Christmas spirit. It is a fun read because Christmas should have “room for ideas as loopy as flying reindeer.”

Tap Dancing to Work (2012) looks at the long life of investor and philanthropist Warren Buffett, chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway and one of America’s richest men. Carol Loomis, who led coverage of Buffett for decades at Fortune magazine, collected more than 40 articles along with excerpts from Buffett’s annual letters to shareholders to showcase his ideas on just about everything. Some articles are lighthearted, such as one that explores whether Warren and singer Jimmy Buffett are related (maybe). For the most part, though, the articles highlight his investment strategies, his long-time friendship with Microsoft’s Bill Gates, and his profound impact on the US economy, the stock market, and CEOs worldwide.

Audio Snaps is a series of 100-minute audio books, each featuring a dozen or so stories from each of my five books. Black Vinyl White Powder is a bit different from the other books in that it was written as a continuous narrative moving through story after story. So the best way to fit it into the formula for the series was simply to read the first six chapters (later, I'll do the rest of the book). Black Vinyl White Powder is a history of the British pop music with insight into the recreational drugs of the the day and their relevance. Since I was there, and a part of it, it's very much written from my own point of view. The reviews when it was first published were exceptional, for instance - "One of the most authoritative, intelligent, diligently researched,
conscientiously indexed, and thoroughly unpretentious disquisitions on
the history of the British pop scene yet written." SUNDAY TELEGRAPH - "Napier-Bell provides a one-stop-shop education in what the music business – as opposed to the music itself – has always been about: get rich, get high, get laid." THE INDEPENDENT - "His preoccupation with trivia is what makes his book so compelling and informative. Napier-Bell knows that if you scratch the surface of pop music you will find more surface." Beauty is a feeling. Had we not looked at the rose would it have been beautiful? Had the name of rose not been rose but instead it would have been something else then would we have loved it? Nothing matters with the name. If we look at the rose and say it’s beautiful then it becomes beautiful. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. Whatever creates happiness in our mind that is beautiful. All the feelings are being controlled by hormones. So, the feeling of beauty, form, flavour, fragrance, touch, music every feeling is the creation of hormones. In one word we can say everything is an illusion.

John F. Kennedy was the 35th President of the United States as President and the country's youngest and first Catholic leader. His singularity foreshadowed a sort of challenge to his presidency from the start. Many people were taken aback by his assassination. It was the height of the Cold War and the United States' involvement in Vietnam. John F. Kennedy was elected President on January 20, 1961, by a razor-thin margin of 113,000 votes out of 69 million against his Republican opponent, Richard Nixon2. He was almost immediately confronted with the Cuban missile crisis, which he handled carefully, allowing him to defuse tensions and avert war. This immediately helped to establish a new image for him, which is still held in high regard today.
On November 22, 1963, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, President of the United States of America, was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. Since nearly 50 years after President John F. Kennedy's assassination, much speculation, theory, and movement have existed. The only remaining mystery from the previous century appears to be this one.
