Environmental scientists work to ensure that these resources are used sustainably, balancing the needs of current populations with the preservation of resources for future generations. This includes studying renewable resources, such as solar and wind energy, and nonrenewable resources, like fossil fuels, to understand their availability and impact on the environment.
