"Three Men in a Boat" is a 1889 humorous travelogue of a two-week boating holiday on the Thames by English writer Jerome K. Jerome. The comical adventure begins in Kingston upon Thames and takes the motley crew to Oxford, before heading back to Kingston again. This volume is highly recommended by lovers of travel writing, and it is not to be missed by collectors vintage literature of this ilk. Other works by this author include "Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow" (1886), "All Roads Lead to Calvary" (1919), and "Anthony John" (1923). Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. We are republishing this volume now in an affordable, modern, high-quality edition complete with a specially commissioned new biography of the author.

Laurence Oliphant, author, international traveller, diplomatist and mystic, who spent a decade in later life under the influence of the spiritualist prophet Thomas Lake Harris, writes here under the amusing guise of Lord Frank Vanecourt, bringing us a veritable pot-pourri of events from everyday life in 1865 as he moves amongst the great, the good, and not so good who reside in the exclusive area of London's Piccadilly W1 and its surroundings. Meet the Golovliovs, the ultimate dysfunctional family. In the difficult transition years before and after the liberation of Russia’s serfs, the Golovliovs are a gentry family ill-equipped to face the adaptations necessary in the new social order. Petty, back-biting, greedy, rigid, ignorant, and cruel, their personalities are captured in the array of nicknames they themselves give each other: The Hag, Little Judas, Simple Simon, Pavel the Sneak, the Orphans, the Blood-Sucker. They hate each other ferociously and utterly despise the peasants around them, who are gradually awakening to the potentialities of their new freedoms. In this most famous of Saltykov-Shchedrin’s novels, there is a keen sympathy toward the plight of women caught in the complexities of social change: Anninka and Lubinka, the aristocratic orphans who, seeking independence, recklessly cast themselves into the bohemian life; the matriarch Arina Petrovna, whose desperately vigorous administration of the estate leads to an exhilarating but only temporary stability; the peasant girl Yevpraksia, who is resistlessly taken by the loathsome Porfiry Vladimirych as his mistress. Far from a piece of social propaganda, A Family of Noblemen shows a subtle portraiture of the complex characters and convoluted circumstances of the time. (Expatriate)

Snappy dialogue and a plot full of twists and turns blend to make an adventure story with the unlikeliest hero—and the unlikeliest villains! The Last Collection takes the reader into the peculiar side of modern-day Montreal, a big city filled with colorful people such as Solly the Hawk Weisskopf and Big Moishie Mandelberg, loan sharks whose collection methods rely more on ingenuity (such as before-and-after pictures of their victims) than violence; and Artie Kerner, their "mark," whose rare addiction to purchasing expensive but worthless items finally leads him to seek professional help from Dr. Lehman, a psychiatrist only slightly more neurotic than his patients—practicing in an office that resembles a South Sea island, complete with lagoon. The result is a fast-paced satire with an unconventional humor that binds the book from beginning to unmatchable end.

A novel on the political madness of our time and the internet's deep workings, by the author of The Infernal.Twice a week, the president pilots his ultraluxury airship Trump Sky Alpha (seats start at $50,000), delivering, as he travels between D.C., New York City, and Mar-a-Lago, a streaming YouTube address to the nation, in which he trumpets his successes and blasts his enemies — until the day his words plunge the world into nuclear war. One year later, with 90 percent of the world's population destroyed, a journalist named Rachel has taken refuge in the Twin Cities Metro Containment Zone. Rachel goes on assignment to document the final throes of humor on the internet in those moments before the end, hoping along the way to discover the final resting place of her wife and daughter. What she uncovers, hidden amid spiraling memes and Twitter jokes in a working archive of the internet's remnants, are references to a little-known book that inspired a shadowy hacktivist group called the Aviary. Their role in the downfall of the internet, and the enigmatic presence of a figure known only as Birdcrash, take on immense and terrifying dimensions as Rachel ventures further into the ruins of the internet.Mark Doten, a satirist of unparalleled vision, brilliantly details how the internet has infiltrated every aspect of our lives, laying the groundwork for the tumult of our current political moment, and, in the kaleidoscopic, queer, all-consuming, parallactic swirl of Trump Sky Alpha, for the future headed our way.
