Sinossi

Following years of abuse then being left alone after my mother left my dad and then my dad moving away I decided to write poems to fill the emptiness and to write my feelings down even though I began writing a few poems when I was fifteen.Just like most young wishful girls I knew I had a talent for writing poems. I was informed by a school teacher that I should try to get my poems published. Later I found that I got bored with it then friends, school, work, dances got in the way. I put my poems on hold for a long time. Then I had children and that started me to want to write again. But I still was not all that serious about it. Then after quite a few years I surrendered my life to Jesus even though I was saved when I was twelve. It was at this time that the poems came flowing; the Lord gave me these words.I have since had poems published in Our Twentieth Century’s Greatest Poems…Creation is, Famous Poets of the Heartland...The Lord is My Shepherd, International Who’s Who in Poetry…The Forest, Stars in Our Hearts…We’re Walking Among Angels, Best Poets and Poems of 2012…Flame of Love. I have also published my first book Remembering When in 2012 as well.I hope this poem collection will be blessings to you they will bring you comfort and cheer. Let them fill your heart with hope and gladness.Use them when you are reading your Bible to help give you hope along the way. They are for every occasion and events from birthdays to Christmas. From weddings to funerals or whatever the occasion may be. I pray they will carry you through your days whatever they may be.

C.S. Lewis had an interesting and turbulent life, during which he maintained a prominent academic career and wrote fictional books that, to this day, captivate readers all over the world, regardless of their age and nationality. To understand his life, it must be kept in mind that he was a communicator at heart. He lectured at Oxford, wrote essays for wartime radio, and crafted fairy tales imbued with moral and theological symbolism. No matter which of these tasks he had at hand, his goal was always the same: convey complex ideas in an accessible manner, defend the rationality of his faith, and, most importantly, tell stories. As a result, the stories Lewis told would attempt to reveal many of the deeper truths about the human condition and experience, some of them referencing his own.
Though Lewis wrote his fantasy stories and theological books nearly a century ago, he is still lauded as one of the most celebrated British authors of the 20th century, and it would be an understatement merely to say that he has left a lasting impact on generations of readers. The Chronicles of Narnia have sold over 100 million copies and been translated into more than 40 languages, while his apologetic books are still widely read by believers and skeptics alike. Many popular writers in the 21st century, such as Philip Pullman (despite strong disagreements), Neil Gaiman, and J.K. Rowling have all acknowledged Lewis’ role in shaping modern fantasy. At the same time, pastors, professors, and public thinkers still quote him as being one of the clearest voices bridging intellect and faith, referring to his theological works in a variety of ways.

'I have 90 years to share: 90 years of joy and sorrow, triumph and disaster, love and loss, laughter and tears; 90 years of watching the world change around me beyond my wildest imagination. Ninety years and still counting...'

Amanda Barrie, the iconic Cleo in Carry on Cleo and much-loved Alma in Coronation Street, was born in 1935, above her grandfather’s tailor’s shop in Ashton Under Lyne, during a ferocious thunderstorm. And ever since her journey through life has been a stormy one.

This book will tell the whole story for the first time, from her expulsion from two schools and running away from home aged 13 to be a Soho showgirl, to rising from the chorus to star in the West End, to Carry On Cabby and Carry On Cleo, to Corrie, Bad Girls and more. Amanda has become something of a national treasure, entertaining us all, whilst not hesitating to speak up for herself and others on national television, including on celebrity editions of Hell's Kitchen and Big Brother.

Having performed in her teenage years alongside fellow national icon Barbara Windsor, Amanda’s life has in many ways followed a similar trajectory to become a huge household name.

Amanda will pay particular attention to the whole new life she has led since she left Coronation Street in 2001. Packed with anecdotes and memories of her nine decades on stage and screen, she will share the moments that came to define her life.

She will fully explore her struggle to come to terms with who she was, relating in painful detail the traumas faced by a young gay woman in the 1950s and early 60s. She will explain why she kept that side of her a secret for most of her adult life, and how she feared that she would lose her job and her home if the truth became known.

For the first time, she will tell the full story of how she met her wife, novelist Hillary Bonner, fell in love, overcame all manner of difficulties, and built a new life together.

An essay collection on the importance of critical thought, from one of the foremost Chinese intellectuals of the 1990s.

Wang Xiaobo's Pleasure of Thinking is an essay collection as riotous as it is contemplative. Between rollicking anecdotes about living between the East and West and serious musings on the intellectual situations at home and abroad, Xiaobo examines modern life with the levity missing from so much of today's politico-cultural discourse.

In "The Maverick Pig," he considers the existential differences between humans and livestock. In "Tales From Abroad: Food," he recounts the culture shock of discovering American diets while studying at Carnegie Mellon. Several pieces focus on literature, with notable essays devoted to Italo Calvino, Bertrand Russell, and Ernest Hemingway, whom Xiaobo admired greatly. Others are more personal in nature, ranging from a meditation on getting mugged, to the consideration of the question: why do I write?

Controversial, hilarious, and inimitable, Pleasure of Thinking is a delightful celebration of Wang Xiaobo's unique critical perspective.

Suburban Policing: Cleveland Style is an unfiltered, behind-the-scenes journey through the eyes of a seasoned law enforcement officer who spent 25+ years as a Police Officer making his way through the ranks (Patrol Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Detective Bureau Commander, SWAT Team Commander, etc.,)—which culminated in serving his final eleven (11) years as a municipal Police Chief. With raw honesty, sharp insight, and moments of unexpected humor, this book offers a gripping look at what it truly means to wear the badge in one of America’s most challenging suburban environments. From high-speed pursuits and SWAT operations to life-altering auto accidents and unpredictable disturbances, this isn’t just another cop story—it’s a boots-on-the-ground memoir of dedication, danger, and deeply personal encounters with both tragedy and triumph. Drawn from decades of real-life experiences, these stories reflect the grit, compassion, and unwavering resolve of those who serve and protect. For anyone curious about what police officers really face day to day—and how a lifetime in law enforcement shapes a person—this book offers an authentic, unforgettable perspective.
