A book of hope, of discovery, of love.
We all want connection; we all want to feel love.
In a desperation to find my ideal version of love, or what I thought it ‘should’ look like, I lost myself for a while there.
I became addicted to anxiety; this was my way out. My safety net! Sounds crazy, but true. After quite a journey I started to understand what I was doing, looking for a perfect love in all the wrong places! Discoveries surfacing through writing and meditation. A new mindful way of living, things started to become a little clearer. My days became a little less fearful and my life a little brighter. My faith and connection with love restored. I share with you in this book, what helped me, the magic of feeling love and understanding, that this won’t or can’t look the same to us all. Showing up everyday and trusting what you know holds so much value.
Don’t try and change who you are, try and find who you are instead.
When anxiety became present with my youngest daughter, I knew I needed to find the tools for her and also myself to be able to deal with our anxiety and create a safe space for us both and not let the anxiety rule our daily lives.
We began doing breathing techniques, including the 4-7-8 breathing method, which is one we really enjoy together, you will find this technique in the book and so much more. I hope you enjoy reading it and if you do, please let me know whet you think.

New updated edition of the seminal work by Catherine Dunne, which charted the multifarious lives of the London Irish, in all their variety and colour, now with a brand new foreword by Diarmaid Ferriter.
Before the 'Ryanair Generation', leaving home was for good. Half a million Irish men and women left these shores in the nineteen-fifties, forced by decades of economic stagnation to make their lives elsewhere. For many of these emigrants, mostly young and unskilled, Britain was their only hope of survival. Abandoned by the Irish state, this forgotten generation went in search of employment and security, the dignity of a future that was denied them at home. For many of these youthful emigrants, exile held the promise of adventure and excitement, freedom from the oppressions of De Valera's Ireland. Yet no two emigrant experiences were the same. In a series of compelling interviews, 'honest, angry, and funny', these vibrant voices reflect the diversity of lives lived away from the homeland, an unconsidered people's struggle to plant new lives in an alien soil.

    Sulla and Gaius Marius: The...

Caesar is still remembered for winning a civil war and helping bring about the end of the Roman Republic, leaving a line of emperors in its place, but it’s quite possible that none of what Caesar did would’ve happened without the template for such actions being set 40 years earlier. At the time, when Caesar was in his teens, war was being waged both on the Italian peninsula and abroad, with domestic politics pitting the conservative, aristocratic optimates against the populist, reformist populares, and this tension ultimately escalated into an all-out war. One of the leading populares was Caesar’s uncle, Gaius Marius, a military visionary who had restructured the legions and extended the privileges of land ownership and citizenship to legionaries on condition of successful completion of a fixed term of service. In the late 2nd century BCE, Marius had waged a successful campaign against several Germanic tribes, and after earning eternal fame in the Eternal City, Marius was appointed a consul several times. In 88 BCE, he entered into conflict with his erstwhile protégé, the optimate Sulla, over command of the army to be dispatched against Mithridates VI of Pontus, a long-time enemy of Rome and its Greek allies.
Ironically, Marius’s reforms had made the legions fiercely loyal to their individual generals rather than the state, which allowed Sulla to march his army against Rome and force Marius into exile. With that, Rome’s first civil war was officially underway, but Sulla’s triumph proved short-lived. Just as Sulla departed for a campaign, Marius returned at the head of a scratch army of veterans and mercenaries, taking over the city and purging it of Sulla’s optimate supporters, and though Marius died in 86 BCE, his party remained in power.
