Walk the Rugged Paths of an Eternal Landscape.

Thomas Hardy was the poetic soul of the English countryside, a writer who captured the beauty of the natural world alongside the relentless machinery of fate. This comprehensive collection brings together his entire literary output—his sweeping novels of "Wessex," his evocative short stories, and the profound poetry that occupied his later years. Hardy remains the master of the "Pastoral Tragedy," exploring the clash between ancient traditions and the encroaching modern world.

This collection explores the pillars of Hardy's enduring genius:

The Architect of Wessex: Immerse yourself in the most famous fictional region in literature—a richly detailed version of South-West England where the landscape itself becomes a living character.

The Struggle Against Fate: Experience his deep investigations into "The Immanent Will," where men and women of high character find themselves caught in the gears of social convention and cosmic chance.

The Vanishing Rural World: Discover a poignant record of a way of life under threat, capturing the folklore, labor, and changing seasons of the English peasantry during the Industrial Revolution.

Masterful Psychological Realism: Delve into complex portraits of love, marriage, and ambition, written with a bold honesty that challenged the moral boundaries of his time.

Hardy's work serves as a bridge between the structured morality of the 19th century and the existential questions of the 20th. His lyrical prose and unflinching look at the human condition make this volume an essential cornerstone for any library of classic literature, British history, and timeless poetry.

Monmouth's rebellion of 1685, the Bloody Assizes and the transportation of the defeated to the West Indian plantations, seen from a dissenting household in Somerset. Besant wrote historical fiction with a social reformer's eye, and the slavery at the end of it is not softened. This edition is bound with a gallery of 35 plates after painters including Gillis Neyts, Antoine Le Nain and Abraham Bosse, and carries 23 illustrations restored and coloured for it.

Nicholson was born on December 9, 1866, in Crawfordsville, Indiana, to Edward Willis Nicholson and the former Emily Meredith. Largely self-taught, Nicholson began a newspaper career in 1884 at the Indianapolis Sentinel. He moved to the Indianapolis News the following year, where he remained until 1897. He wrote Short Flights in 1891, and continued to publish extensively, both poetry and prose until 1928. During the first quarter of the 20th century, Nicholson, along with Booth Tarkington, George Ade, and James Whitcomb Riley helped to create a Golden Age of literature in Indiana.

A farmer trapped by a hard New England winter, a sick wife who rules from her chair, and the girl who has come to keep house for them. Wharton framed it as a story reconstructed by a stranger years later, so the reader knows from the first pages that something has already gone wrong. She wrote it as a stylistic exercise and produced the least forgiving book of her career. Fifty-eight plates of painting from 1840 to 1907, including a self portrait and likenesses by James Atkinson and George Chinnery, carry the novel's own theme of faces fixed by a hard winter.

What does a man see when he dies, and what does he do with that knowledge once he returns?

Pronounced dead by the physicians at his bedside, the narrator of this extraordinary Victorian diary lay lifeless for two days before, to everyone's astonishment, he came back to life. What he wrote down afterwards is the document you are about to hear: a haunting, deeply personal record of the soul's passage beyond the grave, set down with the urgency of a man who cannot stay silent about what he has witnessed.

First published in 1890, Coulson Kernahan's debut novel was a critical success that established him as a serious voice in English fiction. Part vision, part confession, part moral meditation, A Dead Man's Diary blends the Gothic imagination of its age with timeless questions about heaven and hell, faith and self-deception, conscience and judgment, and what truly matters when everything else falls away.

Eerie, earnest, and unexpectedly moving, this forgotten classic of visionary fiction is for anyone who has ever lain awake wondering what lies beyond the veil.
