Sinossi

Ever found yourself being fascinated by the idea of being able to hack into any system? While modern culture has pushed hacking to a screen-based villainous role that can do miracles, there is much more to hacking that remains untold. Hardly anyone feels it necessary to mention how hacking can be an illustrious career option. Similarly, the ease with which cyberattacks can be diverted often remains untold.

Handling computers has gotten easier than before. However, do you know the world of the Internet? What makes a computer go online? How can you identify someone else's device? What are the different types of networks and how can you safeguard yourself from the different threats? Let's find out.

Today, data science is a form of power. It has been used to expose injustice, improve health outcomes, and topple governments. But it has also been used to discriminate, police, and surveil. This potential for good, on the one hand, and harm, on the other, makes it essential to ask: Data science by whom? Data science for whom? Data science with whose interests in mind? The narratives around big data and data science are overwhelmingly white, male, and techno-heroic. In Data Feminism, Catherine D'Ignazio and Lauren Klein present a new way of thinking about data science and data ethics—one that is informed by intersectional feminist thought.Illustrating data feminism in action, D'Ignazio and Klein show how challenges to the male/female binary can help challenge other hierarchical (and empirically wrong) classification systems. They explain how, for example, an understanding of emotion can expand our ideas about effective data visualization, and how the concept of invisible labor can expose the significant human efforts required by our automated systems. And they show why the data never, ever "speak for themselves."Data Feminism offers strategies for data scientists seeking to learn how feminism can help them work toward justice, and for feminists who want to focus their efforts on the growing field of data science.

Forget the Kama Sutra. When it comes to inventive sex acts, just look to the sea. There we find the elaborate mating rituals of armored lobsters; giant right whales engaging in a lively threesome whilst holding their breath; full moon sex parties of groupers and daily mating blitzes by blueheaded wrasse. Deep-sea squid perform inverted 69s, while hermaphrodite sea slugs link up in giant sex loops. From doubly endowed sharks to the maze-like vaginas of some whales, Sex in the Sea is a journey unlike any other to explore the staggering ways life begets life beneath the waves.Sex in the Sea uniquely connects the timeless topic of sex with the timely issue of sustainable oceans. Through overfishing, climate change, and ocean pollution we are disrupting the creative procreation that drives the wild abundance of life in the ocean. With wit and scientific rigor, Marah J. Hardt introduces us to the researchers and innovators who study the wet and wild sex lives of ocean life and offer solutions that promote rather than prevent, successful sex in the sea. Part science, part erotica, Sex in the Sea discusses how we can shift from a prophylactic to a more propagative force for life in the ocean.

6 books in 1 bundle, all related to whatever happens in your brain!
Book 1: Neuroplasticity - Neuroplasticity isn’t widely known, but it is not a new concept either. The principles and methods that refer to it have been tried and tested, and have helped people to remove stress, reorganize their thoughts, and take control of their lives.
Book 2: Emotional Maturity - Some people get older and never grow up. Others are very mature for their age. How can you determine when someone is really emotionally mature? And is there a way to become more mature faster?
Book 3: Photographic Memory - You may have heard of people who remember everything just by glancing at it: names, faces, numbers, or information. Well, it’s not unrealistic to develop a memory like that yourself. Our brain is like a storage unit - something like a camera storage unit. Data are constantly moving, but only some information sticks.
Book 4: Emotional Intelligence - You may have heard of emotional intelligence. You may have even learned a little bit about it. This audiobook, however, can take you to the next level of understanding what to do with the neural processes in your brain and how to channel them to gain more control over yourself and your situation.
Book 5: Conscientiousness - Are you applying the power of being conscientious in your life? If you want more out of life, or if you want to be more productive, it’s worth it to learn how to become more conscientious. Conscientiousness has been misunderstood in the past, but now we have a clear comprehension of what it can mean.
Book 6: Brain Training - As we all know, we only use a small portion of our brain, and just like muscles in other parts of our body, the brain can be trained to function better. The author will take you by the hand and show you what’s possible, and you will be amazed at what you are capable of.

    The Desert Further Studies in...

The Desert by John Charles Van Dyke, published in 1901, is a lush, poetic description of the natural beauty of the American Southwest. "What land can equal the desert with its wide plains, its grim mountains, and its expanding canopy of sky!" Van Dyke, a cultivated art historian, saw "sublimity" in the desert's "lonely desolation," which previous generations had perceived only as a wasteland, and his book has a conservationist flavor which seems distinctly modern. "The deserts should never be reclaimed," he writes. "They are the breathing spaces of the west and should be preserved for ever." The changing colors of the sky, hills, and sand impress Van Dyke, as do the mirages. He celebrates the "long overlooked commonplace things of nature"-- cactus and grease wood, desert animals, and "winged life," the birds and insects. His writing has a philosophical undertone. "Not in vain these wastes of sand ... simply because they are beautiful in themselves and good to look upon whether they be life or death." Anyone who views with equal awe fiery sunrises and weeds growing out of pavement cracks will enjoy this reading of Van Dyke's The Desert.(Summary by Sue Anderson)

The story of a turning-point year in Britain’s bus industry, with numerous photos and “extensive and informative” captions (Trolleybus Magazine).

1967 was the year that preceded the end of an era, when private and semi-nationalized companies operated the bus networks in Britain. After 1967, the network was never the same again, with the formation of the National Bus Company in 1968.

The NBC was a very bland organization compared to the colorful bus companies that had existed before nationalization, and many small municipal fleets amalgamated to form Passenger Transport Executives. This comprehensive volume covers a large number of the bus companies throughout the country in 1967—and Jim Blake also provides lively descriptions of his journeys traveling on these services across Britain.
