Sinossi

'For much of each day, we hide what is in our hearts, tuck away the child in us, and save our more curious or adventurous thoughts for 'some other time'. Geoff Miller's poems draw the heart, the child, and the most elusive of contemplations lovingly onto the page. Read these poems. For their tenderness. For their playfulness. And for the pleasures of an attentive and gentle mind. Memory Creases is a delightful second collection from the warmth and wisdom of a poet well worth engaging with.' - Kristen Lang

William Collins Books and Decca Records are proud to present ARGO Classics, a historic catalogue of classic prose and verse read by some of the world’s most renowned voices. Originally released as vinyl records, these expertly remastered stories are now available to download for the first time.
‘Love is familiar. Love is a devil. There is no evil angel but Love.’
Love's Labour's Lost is a comedy about young love, with an unexpected ending.
After vowing to avoid women, the King and three of his friends have to host a princess and her three ladies. The four men fall in love and decide to court the women. In the end, the women must return to their kingdom for a year after which they will marry the king and his friends, providing they remain true to them.
All of the Shakespeare plays within the ARGO Classics catalogue are performed by the Marlowe Dramatic Society and Professional Players. The Marlowe was founded in 1907 with a mission to focus on effective delivery of verse, respect the integrity of texts, and rescue neglected plays by Shakespeare’s contemporaries and the less performed plays of Shakespeare himself. The Marlowe has performed annually at Cambridge Arts Theatre since its opening in 1936 and continues to produce some of the finest actors of their generations.
Thurston Dart, Professor of Music at London University and a Fellow of Jesus College Cambridge, directed the music for this production.
The full cast includes: Derek Godfrey; Gary Watson; Peter Orr; Ian Lang; Robert Eddison; George Rylands; Max Adrian; Toby Robertson; Tony Church; Peter Woodthorpe; Michael Bates; Freda Dowie; Janette Richer; Prunella Scales; Diana Rigg; Susan Maryott; Patsy Byrne.
The Marlowe Dramatic Society and Professional Players, known for their best performances, have once again delivered a captivating rendition of Love's Labour's Lost. The theatre production, directed by Thurman Dart, a Professor of Music at London University and a Fellow of Jesus College Cambridge, is a testament to their European influence and commitment to reviving Shakespeare's less performed plays.
For fans of Richard Parsons (GCSE English Shakespeare Text Guide), and Arthur Miller (Incident at Vichy).

An adaptation for the stage of Jacqueline Wilson's popular novel.
Ten-year-old Andy used to live happily at Mulberry Cottage with her family: Mum, Dad, and Radish the rabbit, who lives in Andy's pocket and shares all her secrets. But then it all went wrong: Mum went to live with Bill, and Dad went off with Carrie. And Andy is expected to shuttle between the two - living out of a suitcase - and come to terms with her strange new families.
Seen all over the country, this resourceful dramatisation is suitable for young actors as well as young audiences. The adapter, Vicky Ireland, has provided production notes to indicate how the play can be staged even with minimal resources - plus a lot of ingenuity!
'A real theatrical treat... the audience of school parties fell quiet as mice and raptly attentive the second the lights went down' - Scarborough Evening News

Tania Hershman's debut poetry collection, Terms and Conditions, urges us to consider all the possibilities, and to read life's small print before signing on the dotted line. These measured poems bring their stoical approach to the uncertain business of our daily lives – and ask us to consider what could happen if we were to bend or break the rules, step beyond the boundaries and challenge the narrative.

In feats of imagination and leaps of probability, falling simply becomes flying, a baby sagely collects data, and even the evidence often leads us astray. In between this, Hershman's precise poetry elegantly balances the known, unknown and unknowable matter of existence, love and happiness, weighing the atoms of each, finding just the exact words that will draw up the perfect contract of ideas.

From the ruins of poetry, fiction and philosophy comes Touch To Affliction, a meditation on the notion of homeland, on patrie and the inhumanity that arises from it.

This is a text obsessed with ruins: the ruins of genre, of language, of the city, of the body. The history of the twentieth century is a history of barbarism, and Stephens walks, like a fl̢neur, through its midst, experiencing through her own body the crumbled buildings, the dessicated cities, the eviscerated language and humanity of our time, calling out in passing to those before her who have contemplated atrocity: Martin Buber, Henryk Gorecki, Simone Weil. In the end, it considers what we are left with Рindeed, what is left of us Рas both participants in and heirs to the twentieth century.

Insistently political but never polemical, Touch To Affliction, at the interstices of thought and theunnameable, is at once lament, accusation and elegy.

    Praise for Paper City:

‘Understanding is almost antithetical to the project Stephens seems to have assigned herself, that of unraveling or radically altering our sense of logic, of language, of narrative, of body, of desire, of words on paper. She wants the book to burn in our hands and, indeed, it does.’
