Sinossi

Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky Crime and Punishment (pre-reform Russian: Преступленіе и наказаніе; post-reform Russian: Преступление и наказание, tr. Prestupléniye i nakazániye, IPA: [prʲɪstʊˈplʲenʲɪje ɪ nəkɐˈzanʲɪje]) is a novel by the Russian author Fyodor Dostoevsky. It was first published in the literary journal The Russian Messenger in twelve monthly installments during 1866.

t was later published in a single volume. It is the second of Dostoevsky's full-length novels following his return from ten years of exile in Siberia. Crime and Punishment is considered the first great novel of his mature period of writing. The novel is often cited as one of the supreme achievements in world literature.

Crime and Punishment follows the mental anguish and moral dilemmas of Rodion Raskolnikov, an impoverished ex-student in Saint Petersburg who plans to kill an unscrupulous pawnbroker, an old woman who stores money and valuable objects in her flat. He theorises that with the money he could liberate himself from poverty and go on to perform great deeds, and seeks to convince himself that certain crimes are justifiable if they are committed in order to remove obstacles to the higher goals of 'extraordinary' men.

Once the deed is done, however, he finds himself racked with confusion, paranoia, and disgust. His theoretical justifications lose all their power as he struggles with guilt and horror and confronts both the internal and external consequences of his deed.

Collected here are the third 3 stories in the Detective Jimmy Delaney series:
    Hacked Off
Jimmy’s relationship with the police seems to have taken a turn for the worse, but it’s not just him. Some of his associates have had strange confrontations with law enforcement. Could someone be manipulating their AugMonitor feeds?
    Possession
Jimmy’s relationship with Diana has never been better, but then she gets control of the Southside Endowment. Jimmy starts to feel like just another possession, until a seeming ghost from the past gives him something to investigate. Possession may be nine-tenths of the law, but exactly what kind of possession are we talking about here?
Too Much of a Good Thing
Diana’s Southside Restoration has only the homeless holding things back. The mild winter results in an unusual number of homeless deaths. Jimmy discovers more oddities than coincidence could explain, and he’s suspicious that Diana might be involved.
If you enjoy a little confused, crime-laden mayhem with a smattering of sci-fi and plenty of human frailty (and some redemption), Detective Jimmy Delaney is for you.
