Sinossi

A young Jack and Dan adventure deep into the woods to shoot themselves some supper one night. After a long while of hunting, Jack suspects all the deer that normally frequented those woods were completely gone, whereas here they'd always been easy pickings. Soon, they both find themselves being hunted...by a pack of werewolves. When the pack hits a small southern town, the local Sheriff realizes this is one case he can not solve alone. He calls in the F.B.I. to help him take down the killers that are taking the lives of the local teens. When the wolves abandon the town for the streets of New Orleans during Mardi-Gras celebrations, the hunters become the hunted in an all-out war where no one may survive....

Unlike many of Lovecraft's other tales, "The White Ship" does not expressly tie into the popularized Cthulhu Mythos. However, the story cannot be entirely excluded from Mythos continuity either, since it makes reference to preternatural, godlike beings. The tone and temperament of "The White Ship" speaks largely of the Dream Cycle literary structure that Lovecraft utilized in other stories such as The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath (1926) and "The Cats of Ulthar" (1920).
In this story, a lighthouse keeper named Basil Elton engages upon a peculiar fantasy in which a robed, bearded man is piloting a mystical white ship which appears when the moon is full. Elton walks out across the water on a bridge of moonbeams and joins the bearded man on this ship, and together they explore a mystical chain of islands unlike anything that can be found on Earth. They travel past Zar, a green land where "dwell all the dreams and thoughts of beauty that come to men once and then are forgotten", then the majestic city of Thalarion, "City of a Thousand Wonders", where dwell frightful demons. They pass Akariel, the huge carven gate of Thalarion, and continue their voyage. Elton is informed that those who enter both places have never returned. During the voyage they seem to be following an azure celestial bird. They also pass Xura, the "Land of Pleasures Unattained", which seems pleasant from a distance but reeks of plague upon getting nearer. They finally settle in Sona-Nyl, the "Land of Fancy",

Edgar Allan Poe has the genius to manipulate language so well that he could engage my imagination and get me terrified even though little was 'done' in the sense of horrible actions described. My imagination, under the power of his creepy words, conjured the atmosphere and amplified the scariness all by itself. In this recording I've chosen some of his stories that did this so well and succeed in leaving lingering hair raising memories with me to enjoy all through my life: The Telltale Heart; The Masque of the Red Death; The Black Cat; The Raven and the Casque of Amontillado. I hope you enjoy listening to them as much as I did narrating them.

Reggie Oliver is a stage actor and playwright. His biography of Stella Gibbons was praised as "a triumph" by Hilary Spurling in the Daily Telegraph, his play Winner Takes All, was described as "the funniest evening in London", by Michael Billington in The Guardian, and his adaptation of Hennequin and Delacour's Once Bitten opened at the Orange Tree Theatre in London in December 2010.
YOU HAVE NOTHING TO FEAR: I knew Lord Charles Purefoy in the 1970s, but then so did
everyone. I had also known him in the 1960s when we were at school together, and in the same house.

Beyond the stars ... beyond the veil of sanity ... something waits.
In this unnerving collection of cosmic horror, H. P. Lovecraft casts his gaze far beyond our fragile Earth, revealing a universe vast, uncaring, and filled with incomprehensible forces. These seven stories confront the listener with the terrifying notion that mankind is not alone, not significant, and not safe.
From ancient aliens buried in Antarctic ice to cryptic transmissions from the void, these tales chronicle the slow unravelling of minds exposed to truths no human was meant to grasp.
