Sinossi

What is Machine Vision

The technology and methods that are used to provide imaging-based automatic inspection and analysis for applications such as automatic inspection, process control, and robot guiding, typically in industry, are referred to as machine vision. The term "machine vision" encompasses a wide range of technologies, including software and hardware items, integrated systems, activities, procedures, and skilled professionals. Unlike computer vision, which is a subfield of computer science, machine vision is a field of systems engineering that might be considered to be different from computer vision. It seeks to combine existing technologies in novel ways and apply them to the solution of problems that are encountered in the real world. This word is the one that is most commonly used for these functions in situations that involve industrial automation; nevertheless, it is also used for these functions in other environments, such as vehicle guiding.

The possibilities of what you can achieve in your workshop are greatly enhanced if you have spindles to use with your lathe! A complete and crucial guide for amateur engineers, this book describes the design, construction, and use for a variety of useful spindles that range in shape and size. Featuring over 150 scale plans, line drawings, and a collection of helpful data tables, this metalworking guide clearly outlines several techniques for milling, grinding, and drilling spindles that are easy to make and have as few parts as possible. Author Harprit Singh Sandhu is an American engineer and the founder of Rhino Robots Inc. The chief designer of the 'Rhino' series of robots, he is also a machinist, woodworker, and clockmaker – the latter of which inspired him to design and build the spindles described in this book.

  • From Chaos to Stability - How the Brain Invents Our Conscious Worlds - cover

From Chaos to Stability - How...

    Edward Ziff, Israel Rosenfield

At the heart of Israel Rosenfield and Edward Ziff's inquiry is the nature of brain function. The sensory world is disordered and chaotic. There are no labels for tables, chairs, or airplanes, and indeed there are no colors, sounds, or smells, only photons, airwaves, odorant molecules, and so on, which are unlabeled and impossible to "know."

To make sense of this chaos, the brain must simplify the sensory inputs by creating, or inventing, the colors, sounds, smells, forms, and faces that are perceived in consciousness, which become a proxy for the chaotic world in which we live. The brain's ability to generalize and categorize these invented perceptions, and to relate them to one another, enables it to form memories, which are not fixed representations of things past, but a dynamic and malleable function of the brain that is relational.

When formation of these worlds breaks down, neurological differences arise. Although the mechanisms that transform sensory chaos into the simplified perceptions experienced in consciousness remain elusive, Rosenfield and Ziff relate what they have learned by means of imaging brain activity and by mapping the neural circuits that comprise memory traces. In addition, the authors offer perspectives for future studies of consciousness.

Creating a wildlife habitat garden is a rewarding way to connect with nature and contribute to the well-being of local ecosystems. Whether you live in a city, suburb, or rural area, designing a garden that supports birds, butterflies, and other beneficial creatures can bring a sense of peace and harmony to your space. The importance of wildlife habitat gardens has grown over the years as the natural world faces unprecedented challenges, such as habitat loss, climate change, and pollution. By planting with purpose, you can play an essential role in reversing these trends and create a sanctuary that supports biodiversity.
The primary focus of this book is on two of the most beloved and visible wildlife groups—birds and butterflies. These creatures not only provide beauty and joy to our gardens but also contribute significantly to the health of our environments. Birds are critical pollinators, seed dispersers, and pest controllers, while butterflies are essential for pollination, helping to fertilize plants as they move from flower to flower. Both species are also vital indicators of ecosystem health, and their presence can signal a thriving environment.
Designing a garden that attracts and supports birds and butterflies requires more than simply placing a birdbath or planting a few flowers. It involves understanding their needs and the role plants play in supporting these creatures through every stage of their life cycle. From providing the right types of plants to offering shelter, food, and water, every element of your garden will need to be carefully considered to create a balanced, thriving habitat.

The primary mission of military intelligence in the United States Army is to provide timely, relevant, accurate, and synchronized intelligence and electronic warfare support to tactical, operational and strategic-level commanders. The Army’s intelligence components produce intelligence both for Army use and for sharing across the national intelligence community. The military will subject someone to a polygraph for several reasons: If that person needs to access confidential files; if they are accused of leaking government secrets; if they are accused of terrorism or of being a spy; if they are a foreign national who needs access to classified material, and several other reasons. The following is a 1960s Army training recording with information on administering a lie detector test.
