Sinossi

What is Econometrics

The field of econometrics involves the utilization of statistical techniques to analyze economic data with the objective of providing empirical evidence to economic relationships. More specifically, it refers to "the quantitative analysis of actual economic phenomena based on the concurrent development of theory and observation, related by appropriate methods of inference." In a textbook that provides an introduction to economics, econometrics is described as a tool that enables economists to "sift through mountains of data to extract simple relationships." In the field of econometrics, Jan Tinbergen is identified as one of the two founding fathers. That other individual, Ragnar Frisch, was also the one who first used the phrase in the manner that it is used today.

Break free from the pressure to succeed and claim the freedom to live and lead your way with this bold, actionable playbook from the founder of ZICO and GroundForce Capital.
Entrepreneurs start businesses to be their own bosses, but if the job you made for yourself feels more like a grind than a labor of love, it’s time to abandon someone else’s vision of success so you can achieve professional and personal freedom.
Mark Rampolla thought he knew what he wanted when he started ZICO Coconut Water: success and then freedom. But even after selling the company to Coca-Cola for over $200 million, he still felt bound by unconscious conditioning, limiting beliefs, outdated dreams, and the relentless hustle culture of entrepreneurship.
Through deep personal work—and by guiding hundreds of other entrepreneurs and leaders—Mark discovered a new path to access and sustain true freedom, even while running multiple businesses. He developed a system of seven actionable steps to build his dreams, redefine success for himself, and be present in every day of his journey. It led to more freedom than he ever imagined possible and, surprisingly, even greater success. And now, he wants that for you. Not someday. Now.
What if freedom isn’t something you earn at the end, but something you can begin with and carry with you every step of the way? It’s time to live your best life—one that’s richer, freer, and more fulfilling than anything you’ve dared to imagine. It’s time for An Entrepreneur’s Guide to Freedom.

How underwater mediation has transformed deep-sea spaces into resource-rich frontiers

Green energy technologies such as windmills, solar panels, and electric vehicles may soon depend on material found at the seabed. How did a space once imagined to be empty and unfathomable come to be thought of as a treasure trove of resources? Lisa Yin Han traces how contemporary developments in underwater sensing and imaging materially and imaginatively transmogrify the ocean bottom into a resource frontier capable of sustaining a digitally connected global future.

Set against the backdrop of climate change, energy transition, and the expansion of industrial offshore extractions, Deepwater Alchemy looks at oceanic media and its representation of the seabed in terms of valuable resources. From high-tech simulations to laboratories and archives that collect and analyze sediments, Han explores the media technologies that survey, visualize, and condition the possibility for industrial resource extraction, introducing the concept of extractive mediation to describe the conflations between resource prospecting and undersea knowledge production. Moving away from anthropocentric frameworks, she argues that we must equalize access to deep ocean mediation and include the submerged perspectives of multispecies communities.
