ADAM & EVE – Psychedelic Promise 1965 London
Book 5 of 6: The Age of Wisdom
This fifth book of six is summarized as follows:
Summer 1967-1968 finds Adam and Eve at the height of their creative powers, launching underground magazine Gandalf's Thoughts from their Notting Hill flat. As their publication gains cult status, their paths diverge: Adam is seduced by commercial art success after a prestigious Mayfair exhibition, while Eve's radical feminist essay "The Female Condition" sparks national debate but alienates former allies. Their creative partnership fractures as Adam embraces mainstream recognition and Eve deepens her feminist activism. Tensions culminate at the Isle of Wight Festival, where amidst Jefferson Airplane's performance, they confront their diverging visions. In a poignant dawn conversation, they choose separation - not as an ending, but as necessary growth. Eve moves out to pursue women's liberation work, while Adam wrestles with artistic integrity. The story captures 1968's cultural crossroads, where idealism collides with reality, and two soulmates learn that sometimes love means letting each other evolve.
I do hope you enjoy this fourth instalment, and it's only $3.
The initial opening credit music which does run to approximately 2 1/2 minutes, called Electric Pulse, and prepares you for the start, synthesizer, bass and cymbals in a soul/funk form. The closing music, called Full Motion, ends the tale on a darker tone and at about 2 minutes and the same musical instruments, genre and industrial/fearful mood but with more caution added.
The book itself runs to about 16 minutes and is narrated in my own voice.
I do hope you enjoy this audiobook and let me know what you think, there are a lot more to come!

"The Wonderful Visit" is a novel written by H.G. Wells and first published in 1895. Unlike Wells' more famous works of science fiction, this novel falls into the genre of social satire and fantasy. It tells the story of an angelic creature named Mr. Angel, who unexpectedly descends upon a small English village.

The arrival of Mr. Angel disrupts the tranquil and ordinary lives of the villagers, who are initially perplexed by his presence. As they interact with him, their beliefs, prejudices, and social norms are challenged. The novel explores themes of human nature, social conventions, and the clash between the ordinary and the extraordinary.

Wells uses the character of Mr. Angel as a means to critique and satirize the norms and customs of Victorian society. Through his otherworldly perspective, Mr. Angel questions the self-importance, hypocrisy, and narrow-mindedness of the villagers. His presence serves as a catalyst for personal transformation and the reevaluation of societal values.

"The Wonderful Visit" blends elements of fantasy and humor with social commentary. It raises questions about the nature of goodness, the complexities of human behavior, and the limitations of social conformity. Wells's writing style is characterized by his wit, imaginative storytelling, and keen observation of human nature, which are all evident in this lesser-known work.

While "The Wonderful Visit" may not be as well-known as Wells' science fiction classics like "The Time Machine" or "The War of the Worlds," it offers a unique and thought-provoking exploration of society and human nature. It showcases Wells' versatility as a writer and his ability to use fiction to critique and satirize the conventions of his time.

Mick Hardin is an Army CID officer home on leave, recovering from an IED attack and flirting with prescription painkillers, when a body is found in the center of town. It’s Barney Kissick, the local heroin dealer, and the city police see it as an occupational hazard. But when Barney’s mother, Shifty, asks Mick to take a look, he finds there’s more to the killing than it seems. Mick should be rehabbing his leg, signing his divorce papers, and getting out of town—and most of all, staying out of the way of his sister’s reelection as Sheriff—but he keeps on looking, and suddenly he’s getting shot at himself. A dark, pacy crime novel about grief and revenge and the surprises hidden below the surface, Shifty’s Boys is a tour de force that confirms Mick Hardin as one of the most appealing new investigators in fiction.
