ABOUT THE FILM
Gladiator (2000), directed by Ridley Scott, is an epic historical drama set in ancient Rome. The film follows Maximus Decimus Meridius (Russell Crowe), a betrayed Roman general who is reduced to slavery and forced to fight as a gladiator. Seeking revenge for the brutal murder of his family and the wrongful death of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, Maximus rises through the gladiatorial ranks. The film explores themes of loyalty, vengeance, justice, and the corrupting influence of power. With intense action sequences and emotional depth, Gladiator is both a tale of personal redemption and a critique of political tyranny.
