Sinossi

Equity Valuation offers a deep dive into the essential principles of determining a company's true worth, a critical skill for investors and finance professionals. The book explores the evolution of valuation models, highlighting the blend of quantitative analysis and qualitative judgment needed for effective assessment. It emphasizes that accurate equity valuation is more than just applying formulas; it requires critical thinking to navigate market complexities and avoid common errors.

The book systematically progresses through fundamental concepts, such as the time value of money, and advances to various valuation models, including discounted cash flow (DCF) and relative valuation. Each method is detailed with practical examples, offering a balanced approach between theoretical frameworks and real-world applications. For instance, understanding a company's value isn't just about crunching numbers, but also considering factors like market psychology and economic conditions that can significantly influence valuation.

Finally, the book examines advanced topics, such as valuation in specific industries and the impact of macroeconomic factors, providing readers with a comprehensive understanding of equity valuation. This thorough exploration equips readers with the tools to assess investment opportunities, price mergers, and make informed capital allocation decisions, making it a valuable resource for those seeking a deeper understanding of business valuation and financial analysis.

Is it a mathematical science like physics? Or a moral and philosophical investigation of how societies should manage scarce resources?Along the way we meet some of the great thinkers from Adam Smith to Thomas Piketty, and ponder questions such as: What on earth does quantitative easing mean? It would be nice to think that job positions are based on merit. But deep down I think we all know that this is not entirely true. The job market is not fair, Its competitive. Its just that the rules of the competition are more obvious to some than they are to others.
The only difference between the people who have worked their way up further than you, is that they know the rules better than you do. That’s what gives them the upper hand, but its about to be what gives you the upper hand instead.
When they have the right knowledge, they know the right things to say, especially during an interview. Most importantly, when you know things that others don’t, you think differently. And it’s the way that more successful people think that leads them to opportunities that others miss out on. This in turn makes them more confident, which in turn makes them more appealing to employers, especially when it comes to the more competitive jobs.
In my own companies, I’ve had to employ a lot of people. I have reviewed hundreds of job applications and have trained my own HR staff how to look for the ‘hidden’ red or green predictor flags that indicate how someone thinks (which we can use to predict how they will act). The red flags mean that, no matter what the person’s experience, we should steer clear of them. The green flags mean we should chase after them and compete for them to snatch them up before another employer gets to them first.
Even if its in a different industry, that other employer becomes our competitor. They may not be competing for our customers, but they’re competing for human talent. And the talents that employers crave the most tends to be rare. So when we see them, we pounce.
As you read this book, you’ll learn a few simple tricks and unspoken rules that will make you a green flag candidate in any job you go for. This means that employers will be chasing you rather than you chasing them.

A single mother of four, Angie Cella dreamed one night about a device that put gems in her hair. She woke up thinking she would invent it, because she loved what she had seen. A few weeks later, she had a second dream. In this one, God told her, “I want you to make this product.” As a woman with a burgeoning faith who’d been waiting for just this kind of direction, Angie spent the next several years navigating the tough and often painful—yet ultimately gratifying—road to success.
Blinger is the story of how Angie brought that dream to life, building a successful business out of nothing but inspiration and hard work. Along with helpful business tips, Angie candidly shares all the fun and excitement, plus the letdowns, the failures, and the pain of bringing an invention to life—and how the power of faith can propel us when we feel like we just can’t go on anymore.
Blinger is a testament to the belief that any dream is possible if you work hard and stay true to your faith.
