About ten years ago, I started defining objectives for myself. I began by just writing down what I wanted to accomplish on a piece of paper. I noticed soon after that this wasn’t very effective. I would write them down on paper, set the paper aside, and I’d remember after a few months. I needed a system that would ensure that my objectives became reality.
Over the years, I have tested several systems for organizing and achieving my objectives. I had breakdowns, surrenders, resumptions, and tactical changes. I resorted to the most diverse strategies.
Today, after ten years of tests and experiments, I have my own system that offers a rate of success of over 90 percent. There are still instances when I fail, but I can say that I manage pretty well.
My vision for this book was to provide a system for organizing time and personal objectives, constructed around annual objectives. A good system of organization does not guarantee success, unless you also work to transform it into reality. In other words, this book will not do the work for you. But, with this book in your hand, the most thrilling part is just about to start.

    The Ripple Effect - Networking...

“How did you get where you are today?” At public speaking events, this is the most frequent question young professionals ask former Ontario politician David Tsubouchi and governance and communications consultant Marc Kealey.

The answer: it is impossible to succeed alone. A friend once said, “A better network equals a better net worth.” This is not to say networking is purely transactional or about how many people one knows: networking is about building relationships based on mutual respect and trust so everyone involved can thrive.

Tsubouchi, Kealey, and 18 other accomplished and prominent Canadians have come together to share their stories and advice on networking for success. They represent people from different sectors who started with nothing and faced more barriers than others because of their gender, ethnicity, and/or immigrant status. From entrepreneurs to executives, their experiences show aspiring networkers the true meaning of perseverance and how they can make networking opportunities fulfilling experiences.

"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment."

Ralph Waldo Emerson's essay Self-Reliance, first published in 1841, is a cornerstone essay advocating for individuality and arguing that true strength comes not from following the crowd, but from cultivating an unwavering belief in one's own ideas and instincts.

Emerson advocates for the rejection of conformity and societal expectations, encouraging his audience to rely on their own intuition and inner convictions and promotes the idea that true wisdom arises from individual experience and authenticity.
Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803—1882) was a prominent American essayist, lecturer, and transcendentalist philosopher, best known for his contributions to the American transcendentalism movement and for his influential works on individualism and self-reliance. His writings emphasise his belief in the potential of each person to discover their own truth and destiny, and his ideas challenged societal norms and encouraged spiritual and intellectual independence. These ideas continue to resonate, inspiring movements centred on personal freedom, self-expression, and the pursuit of authenticity.

The Game Before the Play - Power...

Do you really think you can win every negotiation?
If yes - congratulations, you’ve just entered an episode of Mythbusters.
If you believe negotiation is about dropping the perfect line at the perfect moment like in a Hollywood movie - sorry, that’s not how it works either.
And if you think everything was already decided in some boardroom and your talk is just a polite formality - you’re closer, but still missing the point.
Most negotiations are shaped long before anyone speaks. Outcomes are influenced (sometimes decided) by things like preparation, seniority, reputation, goals, knowledge, power dynamics, and how much energy each side is willing to invest. These factors matter as much as what happens in the room. Put them together and you realize what most people overlook:
There’s a whole game before the play.
This book guides you through that game using The Playbook Cycle - a practical seven-step approach that helps you:Set clear goals that actually guide your decisionsGather the right information (not just more information)Decode hidden power dynamics and motivationsBuild strategies based on reality, not optimismAdapt when circumstances shiftRecognize when not to negotiate at all
It’s a blend of simple frameworks, real situations, and a touch of humor. It challenges the idea that negotiation is just about arguing better. Sometimes it’s about reframing, aligning interests, or walking away with strength, not forcing a win in the moment.
Think of negotiation like football: everyone has skills, tactics, and stamina, but the real advantage comes from knowing when to push, when to hold, and when taking a tactical foul saves the whole season. This book is your coach: not for the visible part of negotiation, but for the mindset and preparation that decide everything before the first word is spoken.
