Sinossi

Master Flea: A Fairy-Tale in Seven Adventures of Two Friends is a humorous fairytale fantasy novel by E. T. A. Hoffmann first published in 1822. Set in the city of Frankfurt am Main, the novel follows the story of Peregrinus Tyss, who becomes entangled in the conflict between supernatural characters in bourgeois form over Dörtje Elverdink, in reality Princess Gamaheh of Famagusta.

Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann (24 January 1776 – 25 June 1822) was a German Romantic author of fantasy and Gothic horror, a jurist, composer, music critic and artist.
His stories form the basis of Jacques Offenbach's opera The Tales of Hoffmann, in which Hoffmann appears (heavily fictionalized) as the hero. He is also the author of the novella The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, on which Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's ballet The Nutcracker is based. The ballet Coppélia is based on two other stories that Hoffmann wrote, while Schumann's Kreisleriana is based on Hoffmann's character Johannes Kreisler.

The Way of All Flesh (1903) is a semi-autobiographical novel by Samuel Butler which attacks Victorian-era hypocrisy. Written between 1873 and 1884, it traces four generations of the Pontifex family. It represents the diminishment of religious outlook from a Calvinistic approach, which is presented as harsh. Butler dared not publish it during his lifetime, but when it was published it was accepted as part of the general revulsion against Victorianism. This novel ranks number 12 of the 100 Great Novels of the 20th Century as chosen by the Modern Library Board of Editors (Summary from Wikipedia)

Henri Bergson’s Laughter: An Essay on the Meaning of the Comic stands as one of the most influential explorations of humor ever written. First published in the early 20th century, this groundbreaking philosophical essay examines why we laugh, what we find funny, and how the comic reveals deeper truths about human nature and society.
Bergson argues that laughter is more than amusement — it is a social act, a subtle corrective that highlights rigidity, absent-mindedness, and mechanical behavior in human life. Through vivid examples and sharp analysis, he uncovers the hidden logic behind comedy, showing how humor exposes the delicate interplay between individuality and the social order.
Narrated with clarity and sophistication by Luke Oldham, this audiobook brings Bergson’s timeless insights to life, offering listeners a fresh perspective on the everyday comic moments that shape our shared human experience.
Perfect for lovers of philosophy, psychology, literature, and anyone curious about why we laugh — and what our laughter truly means.
