But of course he doesn’t, that’s silly. “It’s good to hear from you,” I answer, dodging the question politely. It was probably rhetorical anyway. Still, I find myself blushing, turning beet red alone in my bedroom. “I’m glad I caught you,” he says. You caught me, all right, I think, fighting the absurd impulse to giggle. He has the weirdest way of making me forget I’m a grown woman with no reason to be giddy over a schoolgirl crush.
