Blessed by the kindness of the Duchess, who rescues Anita from the prospect of a loveless marriage and enlists her in the search for a bride for her discerning and disinterested son, Anita finds joy in her magnificent new surroundings and exalted company but still, surely, it is too much for her to hope that she herself might find a true love of her own?

  "Through the Gates of the Silver Key" is a short story co-written by H. P. Lovecraft and E. Hoffmann Price between October 1932 and April 1933. A sequel to Lovecraft's "The Silver Key", and part of a sequence of stories focusing on Randolph Carter, it was first published in the July 1934 issue of Weird Tales. At a gathering to decide the fate of Randolph Carter's estate (which has been held in trust since his disappearance) the mysterious Swami Chandraputra, who wears curious mittens and enveloping robes, tells Carter's acquaintances of his ultimate fate. He explains that after performing its ritual, the Silver Key took Carter to the Outer Extension, a realm transcending spacetime, by transporting him through a cosmic structure known as the First Gate. There, Carter met the Ancient Ones, a group of mystic beings led by 'Umr at-Tawil, a dangerous being warned of in the Necronomicon, saying those who deal with it never return. 'Umr at-Tawil offers Carter a chance to plunge deeper into the cosmos; after Carter accepts, the Ancient Ones manifest and open a structure known as the Ultimate Gate, which takes him to a truly infinite void...

  Aleister Crowley's At the Fork of the Roads was originally published in the first issue of The Equinox: The Review of Scientific Illuminism in 1909. The short story is more of a descriptive tone poem than a straightforward narrative, and is considered to be a spell for meditation rather than a story for entertainment.  
  The story is a warning about the dangers of being too confident in one's abilities, and how it might require desperate measures to triumph over. It is also considered to be a thinly-veiled accusation against Crowley's fellow poet William Butler Yeats.

  Mound The: A Cthulhu Mythos Story

  "The Mound" is a horror novella by H. P. Lovecraft, written as a ghostwriting project for Zealia Bishop. It is often considered part of the Cthulhu Mythos due to its themes of ancient, hidden civilizations, cosmic horror, and connections to Lovecraft’s broader mythos.   
  The story follows an unnamed narrator investigating a mysterious burial mound in Oklahoma, where local legends speak of ghostly apparitions and strange disappearances. He discovers a manuscript written by a Spanish explorer, Pánfilo de Zamacona, who in the 16th century found an underground civilization beneath the mound. This lost realm, K’n-yan, is an advanced but decadent society of immortal beings who wield incredible scientific and psychic powers. 
  "The Mound" expands the Cthulhu Mythos by introducing K’n-yan as one of Lovecraft’s lost civilizations, echoing the fates of places like R’lyeh or the Plateau of Leng, where remnants of ancient alien presences continue to exert their influence on the world.

  There is something about the number 3.    
   
  The Ancient Greeks believed 3 was the perfect number, and in China 3 has always been a lucky number, and they know a thing or two.
