  Sir Anthony Hope Hawkins was born on 9th February 1863 in Clapton, London.  
  He was educated at St John's School, Leatherhead, Marlborough College and Balliol College, Oxford.  Hope trained as a lawyer and barrister and was called to the Bar by the Middle Temple in 1887. Despite what was thought to be a promising legal career he had literary ambitions and wrote in his spare time. 
  His early works appeared in various periodicals of the day but for his first book ‘A Man of Mark’ (1890), with no publisher interested, he published with his own resources.  
  More novels and short stories followed, including the mildly successful ‘Mr Witt's Widow’ in 1892. Hope even found time to run as the Liberal candidate for Wycombe in the election that same year but was unsuccessful. 
  His first major literary success came with ‘The Dolly Dialogues’, a collection of previously published magazine pieces followed very quickly by his instant classic, ‘The Prisoner of Zenda’. He now gave up the vestiges of his legal career to pursue writing full-time. 
  Despite never again reaching the same pinnacle of success he was popular and wrote prolifically across novels, plays and of course, short stories though his writing output rapidly diminished after the war. 
  In 1918 he was knighted for his contribution to propaganda efforts during World War I.  
  His short stories are delicate, mannered and often surprising with their wit, humour and interplay of characters who say one thing and usually mean another.  He was very definitely a writer of escapist rather than serious fare but they are no less enjoyable for that. 
  Anthony Hope died of throat cancer on 8th July 1933 at his country home, Heath Farm at Walton-on-the-Hill in Surrey. He was 70.

  My Secret Life is an anonymously penned memoir written during a period from the 1840s to the 1880s by a wealthy and sex obsessed English gentleman who refers to himself simply as ‘Walter’. Part confessional, part investigative erotic journalism, it meticulously documents every detail of the author’s prolific sexual encounters, offering us in the process an eye and thigh opening account of life behind closed doors in the Victorian age.
  
  Women, in both mind and body, were the all consuming object of Walter’s interest. From early youth through to old age his quest for erotic discovery and adventure with them was never diminished.
  
  Unlike contemporary 19th century erotic texts, such as The Pearl, whose sole object was to titillate, Walter’s interest in his subjects did not end with the extinguishing of the carnal flame. His hunger to understand the circumstances and minds of the women he encountered is never upstaged by the sex. Their potted life histories, their most intimate desires and acts were shared with him and in turn meticulously recorded by him, written down verbatim while still fresh in his mind.
  
  The resulting poignant record of a lost era and the intimate moments of the women who inhabited it offer us a remarkable insight into the 19th century that cannot be gleaned from any other source.
  
  The complete unabridged text is being released as a fully scored audiofilm (an audio book with accompanying music soundtrack) by film composer Dominic Crawford Collins.

  William Blake was an English poet, painter, and printmaker who lived during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Born on November 28, 1757, in London, England, Blake displayed artistic and poetic talent from an early age. Despite facing financial difficulties and limited formal education, he developed into one of the most visionary and unconventional figures of the Romantic era. 
  Blake's artistic endeavors spanned both visual arts and literature. As a poet, he is renowned for his innovative and symbolic verse, often exploring themes of spirituality, imagination, and the human experience. His most famous collection of poems is "Songs of Innocence and Experience," where he contrasts the idyllic world of innocence with the harsh realities of experience. Notable poems from this collection include "The Lamb" and "The Tyger." 
   
  In addition to his poetic achievements, Blake was a skilled and imaginative visual artist. He was a self-taught engraver, producing intricate and highly symbolic illustrations for his own works. His method of "illuminated printing" involved both text and illustrations being etched onto copper plates, allowing for a seamless integration of words and images. Some of his other notable works include "The Marriage of Heaven and Hell" and prophetic books like "The Book of Urizen" and "The Four Zoas." 
   
  One of Blake's distinctive features was his unorthodox spiritual and philosophical beliefs. He was deeply critical of organized religion and the conventional morality of his time. Blake developed a personal mythology incorporating mystical and visionary elements, often challenging traditional Christian doctrines.
