Synopsis

"Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, Op. 46" by Edvard Grieg is a masterful orchestral work that has captivated audiences since its publication in 1888. This suite, along with Suite No. 2, Op. 55, which followed in 1893, originated from the incidental music Grieg composed for Henrik Ibsen's play "Peer Gynt." The original score, Op. 23, contains 26 movements that beautifully capture the essence of Ibsen's dramatic narrative.
In creating the first suite, Grieg selected four movements that stand out for their vivid characterizations and memorable melodies. These movements are: Morning Mood (Morgenstemning) in E major: Known for its serene and pastoral opening, this piece evokes the tranquility of a sunrise with its gentle, flowing melodies. It has become one of Grieg's most recognizable works. The Death of Åse (Åses død) in B minor: A somber and deeply emotional piece, it portrays the sorrowful moments surrounding the death of Åse, Peer Gynt's mother, with a touching and introspective melody. Anitra's Dance (Anitras dans) in A minor: This lively and exotic dance reflects the encounter between Peer Gynt and Anitra. Its rhythmic and playful character contrasts with the other more somber movements of the suite. In the Hall of the Mountain King  in B minor: Perhaps the most famous piece in the suite, this movement is characterized by its increasing tempo and intensity, depicting Peer Gynt's encounter with the Mountain King and his subsequent flight from the trolls.
Grieg's music for "Peer Gynt" is notable for its incorporation of Norwegian folk elements and its vivid storytelling through orchestral color. The suite's popularity is a testament to Grieg's ability to distill the essence of the larger work into these concise, yet richly expressive pieces. The piano arrangements of these movements, while maintaining the essence of the orchestral originals, offer a more intimate rendition that captures the nuances of Grieg's musical language.

Have you ever wondered why learning the basics of playing a keyboard is not enough? Why do we need to take advanced lessons and hone our skills even further? How can advanced keyboard lessons push your hobby into something more serious, possibly as far as a career in music? This book will explore why advancing your keyboard learning journey is so important and how it can help you reach greater heights in the music industry.
First off, what exactly do advanced keyboard lessons entail? Many keyboard books provide basic tutorials on playing chords, scales, and other simple sounds, but these are too rudimentary for those who wish to take their music to the next level. Advanced keyboard lessons delve into more complex topics such as trills, textures, leaps, and even jazz and blues music. Through chapters 1-2, readers will learn about advanced chords to play on the piano. Chapter 3 explores melodic and harmonic scales, while chapter 4 delves into trills, textures, and leaps. It’s important to practice what you have learned and find ways to apply it within various musical genres and settings. In Chapters 5 and 6, we look at jazz and blues music as well as honing techniques to become a better player. We will look at how classical music can benefit from keyboard-playing techniques and explore jazz, pop, rock, and blues styles. With this knowledge under your belt, you will be in a position to bring creative energy into any performance.

Adventure awaits in this new visual odyssey from Accidentally Wes Anderson, taking readers on stunning trips to every continent and sharing oddly moving human tales along the way. For lovers of travel, design, and exploration, AWA presents a brand-new collection of real-world places that seem plucked from the films of Wes Anderson, and the stories that bring each location to life. You’ll venture to Antarctica through the treacherous Drake Passage, make a stop in lesser-known Jincumbilly, Australia (where platypuses outnumber people), discover the bridge in Wisconsin that went to nowhere, and drop into the most peculiar umbrella shop in London. But adventure means nothing without someone to tell the tale.    You’ll meet the father of American skydiving, who created the officially-sanctioned center of Earth—a California town with a population of two. You’ll visit the “post office at the end of the world”—and meet its mustachioed letter carrier, who runs an anarchist island nation in his free time. And you’ll travel to a town in the Arctic Circle where cats are prohibited, humans may not be buried, and doomsday vaults hold all we need to survive an apocalypse—including the secret recipe for the Oreo cookie.    Authorized by the legendary filmmaker himself, Accidentally Wes Anderson Adventures reminds us that the world is ours to explore.

The Actor's Mindset: Acting as a Craft, Discipline, and Business uniquely prepares actors to live full, successful lives as performing artists. While most acting books focus on either the art or the business of entertainment, Archibald looks at the entire picture of what it means to be an actor, focusing on the foundations of both the artist and the entrepreneur to guarantee a complete and fully functioning approach to a career.

The Actor's Mindset is divided into three distinct parts: "The Craft," "The Discipline," and "The Business."

Archibald's unique experience as both an actor and a coach gives him an unparalleled perspective on the current industry landscape. While classic method texts still circulate, and there are actors who have written books that address craft, none have Archibald's depth of knowledge and experience in coaching, nor approach the art from a professional standpoint instead of solely an instructional one. The success of Craig's approach is exemplified by the success of his clients, a roster that includes Constance Wu, John Slattery, and two-time Academy Award nominee Dan Futterman.

'Welcome to a journey of remarkable
    buildings and remarkable thoughts about
these buildings, shaped as they are by deep time, modern ideas and Scottish culture. Readers are sure to see new vistas in the land of stone open before them' From the Foreword by PROFESSOR ANDREW PATRIZIO

    What makes Scottish architecture Scottish?
    What ideas drive Scottish architecture?
What has modern architecture in Scotland
    meant to the Scots?

Ever since the 'granny-tops', rattling and clanking in the wind to draw smoke up the tenemental flues from open coal fires, caught my attention as a three-year-old, architecture and its many parts, purposes, processes and procedures has fascinated me. For me, architecture has always had profound significance.

'Land of Stone' seeks to disengage widely-held conceptions of what a Scottish architecture superficially looks like and to focus on the ideas and events – philosophical, political, practical and personal – that inspired architects and their clients to create the cities, towns, villages and buildings we cherish today.

Through a series of interviews with a wide range of people connected to Pink Floyd in their earliest days (including Nick Mason, Peter Jenner, Jenny Fabian, Storm Thorgerson, Duggie Fields and Peter Whitehead), John Cavanagh paints a vivid picture of how this remarkable debut album was created. He brings to life the stories behind each track, as well as Pink Floyd's groundbreaking live performances of the time. EXCERPTThe Piper at the Gates of Dawn is a wondrous creation often seen through the distorted view of later events. These things have served to overshadow the achievement of The Pink Floyd on their debut album: an outstanding group performance; a milestone in record production; and something made in much happier circumstances than I had expected to find...This is not another book about ""mad Syd"". This, instead, is a celebration of a moment when everything seemed possible, when creative worlds and forces converged, when an album spoke with an entirely new voice. ""Such music I never dreamed of,"" as Rat said to Mole.
