Sinossi

In the 1660's Jamaica was an uneasy island, occupied by Spain but settled by the English and French. When Admiral of the Brethren, Ned Yorke, a brave, loyal Buccaneer, learns that Spain is mounting a Caribbean fleet perhaps to protect the treasures of Spanish ships, or carry an army to Jamaica, he vows to find out the truth. Yorke's audacious attacks on Spanish camps reveal all and the Buccaneers must fight a bloody, desperate battle to try and hinder them.

When is it better to be dead than missing?
A woman’s plea to find her missing husband sends Special Agent Kurt Hunter down a road he doesn’t want to go.
For all its pristine beauty, Biscayne National Park can be deadly for those lost and unprepared. Open water and inhospitable islands are the most obvious obstacles in a life or death battle, but there is something even more dangerous than nature—man.
The search leads to the mangrove-lined shores of the barrier islands, where smugglers and pirates have lurked for centuries. With the clock ticking on finding the man alive, Kurt and his team take to the backwaters of Biscayne Bay to find him.
Backwater Squall is filled with all the colorful characters, tropical locations, Florida history, and marine action that readers have come to expect in the Kurt Hunter Mystery series.

Story about a scientist who discovers a deadly species of fly in Africa and wishes to use it for the elimination of an adversary. He disregards the superstitions of the Africans who believe that the soul of the one killed by this "devilish fly" enters the body of the insect.Another work almost entirely authored by Lovecraft. His creation was particularly the idea concluding the Winged Death, even though it was rejected in "Strange Stories" – supposedly, another author had come up with a similar punchline earlier. The editor-in-chief of "Weird Tales" pondered for a long time before accepting the story.

“These fantastic, angelic stories and fairytales are full of astonishing characters and their longing, love, empathy, and strangeness.” —Deb Olin Unferth, award-winning author of Barn 8

What power does misery play in daily life?

In this sorrowful yet intriguing collection of stories, Aimee Pogson explores journeys of suffering through magical realism. A preschool teacher contends with the stream of salmon that keep appearing on her windowsill, in her closet, tucked in her shoes. An invisible boy swallows nails, buttons, and tree bark in a misguided attempt to grow stronger. Spirits cling to a Ouija board, restlessly hoping that someone will remove it from the closet and ask them a question. A young girl who has an existential crisis burns her Barbie dolls at the stake. And a short, dancing man manipulates the melody of molecules in an attempt to bring his loved ones back to life.

While sadness weighs heavy in The Sadness of Spirits, Pogson’s writing provokes strong emotions, leaving the reader with hope and admiration as the characters are awakened to the nuance and possibility melancholy can bring.

From the internationally acclaimed, best-selling author of Brother, I'm Dying, a collection of vividly imagined stories about community, family, and love.Rich with hard-won wisdom and humanity, set in locales from Miami and Port-au-Prince to a small unnamed country in the Caribbean and beyond, Everything Inside is at once wide in scope and intimate, as it explores the forces that pull us together, or drive us apart, sometimes in the same searing instant. In these eight powerful, emotionally absorbing stories, a romance unexpectedly sparks between two wounded friends; a marriage ends for what seem like noble reasons, but with irreparable consequences; a young woman holds on to an impossible dream even as she fights for her survival; two lovers reunite after unimaginable tragedy, both for their country and in their lives; a baby's christening brings three generations of a family to a precarious dance between old and new; a man falls to his death in slow motion, reliving the defining moments of the life he is about to lose. This is the indelible work of a keen observer of the human heart — a master at her best.
