Sinossi

James Edward Preston Muddock also known as „Joyce Emmerson Preston Muddock” and „Dick Donovan” (1843-1934) was a prolific British journalist and author of mystery and horror fiction. For a time his detective stories were as popular as those of Arthur Conan Doyle. Most of Muddock’s stories featured his continuing character Dick Donovan, the Glasgow Detective, named for one of the 18th Century Bow Street Runners. Other works include these short stories as well.

In the shadowy alleys of Fleet Street, BLEEDERS: The Terrible Tale of Sweeney Todd reimagines the infamous barber’s story as a gothic revenge thriller. Falsely accused and orphaned by a corrupt system, Sweeney Todd sharpens his razors for a bloody crusade against those who destroyed his life. Partnering with Mrs. Lovett, a tannery owner with her own thirst for vengeance, his victims become both his justice and the source of a macabre leather trade that reflects the city’s moral decay. A chilling exploration of trauma, corruption, and the cost of vengeance, BLEEDERS is perfect for fans of gothic horror and revenge-driven tales.

While Jazz Callender is recuperating from nearly losing her life during their first case for the mysterious Cross Society, Lucia Garza hires a new investigator to their firm: none other than Ben McCarthy. The former Kansas City cop has finally been exonerated of murder, and just in time. Jazz and Lucia have received a new red letter.

But instead of instructions for a high-priority case, this missive contains nothing but a warning: "One of you has made a mistake." And it's on letterhead from the Cross Society's major adversary in a psychic war. With Ben filling them in on his past secretive dealings with the organization, Jazz and Lucia start to believe they may be in bed with the enemy, one that they've underestimated at their own peril . . .

A Saturday of ballistic therapy at the Fawcettville gun range turns bloody for PI Niccolo ‘Fitz’ Fitzhugh when local social worker and community theater star Anna Maria Ippolito is found murdered in her home. It’s personal too—he’s been casually dating Anna Maria following his disastrous break up with prosecutor Alicia Linnerman.
The discovery of a strange coded journal at Anna Maria’s home makes Fitz and Anna Maria’s sister Carlotta wonder if she’s living some sort of double life, one Carlotta wants to know about before the police get wind of it.
A box of clothing and other strange items raises more concern, even as the mayor’s wife wants Fitz to investigate her husband’s suspected infidelity.
When Fitz cracks the journal’s code, the two cases converge in a way no one could in this Rust Belt Ohio town could imagine.
This is the fourth in Debra Gaskill's Fracktown Gumshoe detective series.

Something is troubling Inspector Henry Cutter. Sergeant Gideon Bliss is accustomed to his ill-tempered outbursts, but lately the inspector has grown silent and withdrawn. Then, the murders begin. The first to die is the elderly Sir Aneurin Considine, a decorated but obscure civil servant who long ago retired to tend his orchids. If the motive for his killing is a mystery, the manner of his death is more bewildering still. The victims that follow suffer similar fates, their deaths gruesome but immaculately orchestrated. The murderer comes and goes like a ghost, leaving only carefully considered traces. As the hunt for this implacable adversary mounts, the inspector's gloom deepens, and to Sergeant Bliss, his methods seem as mystifying as the crimes themselves.

Why is he digging through dusty archives while the murderer stalks further victims? And as hints of past wrongdoing emerge—and with them the faint promise of a motive—why does Cutter seem haunted by some long-ago failing of his own? To find the answers, the meek and hapless sergeant must step out of the inspector's shadow. Aided by Octavia Hillingdon, a steely and resourceful journalist, Bliss will uncover truths that test his deepest beliefs.

Hypnotic and twisty, The Naming of the Birds will leave you questioning what matters most—solving a case or serving justice.
