Beschreibung

David Lindsay's "A Voyage to Arcturus" is a compelling exploration of metaphysical themes interwoven with a fantastical narrative. The book, first published in 1920, unfolds as an allegorical journey through the imaginary planet of Tormance, challenging the boundaries of reality and perception. Lindsay's prose is rich and lyrical, characterized by vivid imagery and intricate world-building that mirrors the early 20th-century literary context of modernism, where existential inquiries and spiritual quests began to dominate the narrative landscape. The protagonist, Maskull, embarks on a quest for enlightenment, encountering various beings that embody philosophical concepts, ultimately questioning the nature of existence itself. Lindsay, a Scottish author and philosopher, was profoundly influenced by his interest in metaphysics and mysticism, as well as his experiences in the Scottish Highlands. This background compelled him to explore the depth of human experience through allegory and symbolic representation. His blending of fantasy with philosophical inquiry reflects a broader intellectual movement of his time—a search for meaning in an increasingly complex world. Readers intrigued by philosophical speculation and rich allegorical narratives will find "A Voyage to Arcturus" exceptionally rewarding. It invites introspection and contemplation, making it a timeless exploration of the human condition, resonating with anyone seeking deeper truths beyond the physical realm.

Have you ever wondered how to tell a brig from a barque? Or a sprat from a sardine? How salt is made and when Trinity House was founded? The answers to these and much more will be found within these pages.
Shortlisted for the Amberley Press Publishing Prize. Curlew Coast is the author’s second book about East Anglia’s maritime past. Using the coastal towns of Suffolk as a framework, the book explores a diversity of subjects from rope making to ship burials and from coastal erosion to the early navigators. Illustrated throughout with the author’s sketches, Curlew Coast covers the period from when the Anglo-Saxons first sailed up the East Anglian rivers, to the age of the railway when the engine began to take over from sail.
The author lives in Norfolk with memories of many happy hours sailing off the Suffolk coast and its rivers. A lifelong interest in traditional boats, sailing and maritime history has resulted in this unusual and engaging book.

I decided to write this book after having written several books on the applications of Taoism in different areas. The applications of Taoism are broad. For everything that has been written, it remains poorly understood. There are several reasons for this. I have practiced Taoism for most of my life. I studied under a Taoist Master and spent many years in a temple. I have read a great deal on the subject. I have discovered that most of what is written is unclear and, in many cases, misleading. Having practiced Taoism for most of my life, I live the Tao, and I have helped others to live it. The reason why it's so difficult to describe Tao because people are attempting to do so through the lens of cognitive understanding and science. The Taoist perspective is completely different, so it does not lend itself well to be described through science or logic. In attempting to cast Taoism in terms of logic or science, most of what makes it unique and effective is lost.. To understand the Tao, you need to live it.
I teach aspects of this system to individuals and businesses. On the surface, the system is simple and fundamental. For this reason, many people are tempted to pass it off as being nothing more than insubstantial fluff. However, Taoism is much more than this. I will attempt in this book to explain what Taoism is. I will explain its different perspectives, how to experience it, and how to use it as a functional tool. Within this book and the second one, I will also teach many skills and techniques to develop your Taoist insight. This will help you operate more effectively within the world around you.
I will teach you how to use it to make pragmatic changes in your life. It can also be applied to improving business skills and other applications within your jobs or careers. Its applications can span creativity to the organization.

The Apocalypse of Mark is a Christian book written in the ancient style of apocalyptic literature designed to read like a short narrative book one would find in the Bible, like Job, Ruth, or Esther. Narrator John Mark presents a linear retelling of the Biblical meta-narrative, heavily quoting from and alluding to the Biblical text. Beginning prior to creation and ending in the "new heavens and earth" incorporating enigmatic Biblical passages, it demonstrates how they are indispensable to the overall redemption story. The text also offers the reader hope by exposing the Gospel of Jesus as the central focus of God's relational plan. The text is packed with theological teachings and shows how they are all interconnected. The author began the project by trying to solve the question, "Where do demons come from?" Bolstered by years of research, he presents his findings in a creative and engaging narrative style.
