  The Minotaur

  The labyrinth is a death sentence. And I’m trapped inside with a monster. 
  I’m being imprisoned for a crime I didn’t commit. My sentence is brief—only three months—but it doesn’t matter. No one gets out of the labyrinth alive. 
  The underground prison is home to the minotaur, a bull-shifter so feral and violent, he has never been allowed to walk the streets of our city. 
  Or so the legend goes. Nobody who’s seen him has ever lived to tell the tale. 
  When I’m dragged to the labyrinth to carry out my sentence, the skeletons littering the ground tell me all I need to know. The minotaur is a killer and a monster. 
  But this monster doesn’t want to just kill me. What he has planned is much worse. 
  He wants to toy with me—to chase and stalk me. 
  Until I’m his. 
  This story is a re-imagining of the classical Greek myth of the minotaur. In this version, there are no heroes and the monster gets the girl. All explicit scenes are consensual and a Happily Ever After is guaranteed.

  Right of the Soil

  The Latin phrase, jus soli (“right of the soil”), is an unconditional right of a person born within the territory of a country to be conferred citizenship. Singapore’s nationality law is based on jus sanguinis (“right of blood”, in which citizenship is determined by that of one or both parents) and a modified form of jus soli (with at least one Singaporean parent). 
   
  A two-time Singapore Literature Prize winner, Yong Shu Hoong contemplates how a person is invariably bound to the land on which he first sets foot. These poems address topics like belongingness and birthright by exploring the intermingling of the four fundamental elements of air, water, fire and earth. 
   
  Expanded from a 2016 chapbook published a year after the 50th anniversary of Singapore’s independence, this book also attempts to sharpen Yong’s understanding of his relationship with his homeland. A new sequence of poems then plunges readers into Hell, reimagined as Singapore’s third integrated resort that opens underground in the centennial year of 2065, with its concepts inspired by Haw Par Villa’s main attraction, the 10 Courts of Hell. 
   
  Beyond our earthly lives, is it soil – or another element or dimension – that will assert its right to claim us?

  This tale of the near future becomes more relevant every day. Combining a travelogue through a changed society with flashbacks to a long, crazy war in Europe, Sounds of Soldiers looks at the fallout from nationalism and military fantasies gone wrong. 
  When the US President started a bizarre war against former allies in Europe, it quickly escalated into confrontations across the continent. Paris was flattened, nuclear explosions lit up the Mediterranean, and US soldiers fought the locals in Germany and France. Then, in a long, slow conflict, the United States destroyed itself fighting imaginary enemies, within and without its borders. 
  Robert Jones was there through it all, reporting on it, and, occasionally, participating. 
  Now, he's home. 
  How can a man who witnessed some of the most important events of recent history adapt to peace? Reconnecting with friends and family, Robert investigates a newly green Manchester and finds out about life away from the war zone. 
  But there are still some ghosts and secrets from his time on the continent which are ready to come back and shake up Robert's new peaceful life.

  This Poem is Titled 'Beauty of the Human Form.  ::  
  It is a poem about the never ending fascination of People with the Human body. 
  Some might say, its in our DNA. That maybe so.  
  The Greeks knew how to display it, as both eroticism and as an Art form. 
  Showing both sexes in the 'Perfect' perfection of Beauty! 
  Unfortunately; the human form, especially the female human form has been in the last few decades 
  since the new renaissance or as we call the sexual revolution or as is now the 'free society'. 
  Denigrated to an object not of art but purely of desire, or descended into the more pornographic exploitive realms of decor art.
