Sinossi

Biofuels are currently used as a viable alternative energy source in several countries. Plant-Based Genetic Tools for Biofuels Production explains biotechnological techniques and concepts that are applied to increase biofuel yield from plants and algae. Chapters of the book cover a variety of topics: the basic research techniques (cell suspension, embryogenesis, protoplast fusion), plant genetics (plant DNA mutations, new plant breeding techniques, viral genetic vectors for heterologous gene expression, sub cellular proteomes), genomic resources and bioinformatics tools, plant species with bioenergy and biofuel potential, factors influencing biomass yield, advances in cultivation technologies, fermentation of different substrates for ethanol production, and microalgae biomass technologies.
Readers will gain a thorough understanding of modern biofuel production.
Plant-Based Genetic Tools for Biofuels Production is a suitable reference for students in biotechnology and bioinformatics programs as well as researchers interested in information about the basics of biofuel production.

Mountains are among the most awe-inspiring features of the Earth's landscape, rising as towering peaks that shape weather patterns, influence ecosystems, and define the natural borders of continents. Their formation is a complex process driven by immense geological forces acting over millions of years. The primary mechanisms behind mountain building include tectonic activity, volcanic processes, and the gradual effects of erosion and uplift.
One of the most significant processes responsible for mountain formation is tectonic activity, particularly through folding and faulting. The Earth's crust is divided into massive plates that float atop the semi-molten mantle. When these plates collide, the immense pressure causes the crust to buckle and fold, resulting in the formation of fold mountains such as the Himalayas and the Alps. These ranges continue to rise as the plates press against each other, making them some of the youngest and most geologically active mountains in the world. Fault-block mountains, on the other hand, form when tectonic forces cause large sections of the Earth's crust to break and shift along faults. The Sierra Nevada in North America is an example of a fault-block mountain range created by the movement of these fractured rock masses.
Another major contributor to mountain formation is volcanic activity. When magma from beneath the Earth's surface erupts through cracks in the crust, it cools and solidifies, gradually building up into towering volcanic mountains. Over successive eruptions, these formations can grow into massive peaks such as Mount Fuji in Japan or Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa. Volcanic mountains can form along plate boundaries, particularly in subduction zones where one tectonic plate is forced beneath another, or in hotspot regions

Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) is a multidisciplinary field that focuses on the design and use of computer technology, particularly the interfaces through which humans interact with computers. As technology has evolved, so too has the interaction between users and machines, and understanding this relationship is crucial for creating systems that are not only functional but also intuitive and user-friendly. At the heart of HCI is the goal of improving the interaction between users and computers to ensure usability, efficiency, and satisfaction.
The concept of HCI emerged as computing technology became more widely accessible and user-centric design became a necessity. Early computers were primarily operated by specialists, and the interface was often limited to text-based inputs and outputs. However, as computers evolved to serve a broader audience, the need for more sophisticated and user-friendly systems became clear. This led to the development of graphical user interfaces (GUIs), which are now commonplace in many computing environments, making interaction with technology more intuitive and visually engaging.
HCI as a field draws from various disciplines such as computer science, psychology, design, and ergonomics. The key principles in HCI are centered on understanding how users interact with technology, what their needs and preferences are, and how technology can be designed to meet those needs. At the same time, it focuses on the efficiency, effectiveness, and satisfaction that the interaction can provide. This involves studying human cognition, behavior, and the way people process information to ensure that systems are designed in ways that align with natural human capabilities.
