Sinossi

Despite its simple narrative style, Robinson Crusoe was well received in the literary world and is often credited as marking the beginning of realistic fiction as a literary genre. It is generally seen as a contender for the first English novel. Before the end of 1719, the book had already run through four editions, and it has gone on to become one of the most widely published books in history, spawning so many imitations, not only in literature but also in film, television, and radio, that its name is used to define a genre, the Robinsonade.

An entrepreneur shares anecdotes from his prosperous career while offering readers their own roadmap to success in business. The backbone of businesses, the opener and closer of deals, the risktaker who bets on themself-that’s an entrepreneur. Jay D. Rodgers has seen and done it all: from the gritty start-ups to full-scale, world-wide businesses that generate millions in revenue each year. For more than half a century, Jay has started and sold capital ventures, from custom-made cowboy boots to the world’s largest breath-alcohol interlock company, and he’s helped many others along the way.The Bet is blunt and honest and offers no excuses—an entrepreneur always finds a way. His advice and strategies for success are set apart by his trials, errors, and triumphs that come with the territory of serial entrepreneurship. The Bet is like a session with Jay. He’ll share how he did it, and he’ll show you how. You’ll learn: The value of understanding what motivates people An easy, never-fail secret to buying bank notes Why sometimes it’s more profitable to change the players than to change the game An important concept Jay learned at Harvard Business School An argument for why you should put all your eggs in one basket Jay will even explain the bet he made with the publisher of this book—a bet that guarantees everyone wins. If you’re an experienced entrepreneur looking for insider secrets or if you’re just starting out, The Bet will help you turn your business dreams into reality.“Jay did it. Some regrets don’t hit you all at once. They seep in at the corners of your life, at night or on a long drive, until they become a refrain. Those are the worst regrets of all.I was living in a bubble that burst on May 9, 2022. It was the middle of the afternoon. As my partner Vanessa and I approached a major intersection, a blue car accelerated, ran the red light, and T-boned a black truck directly in front of us.BOOM! The blue car’s hood crumpled like an accordion to absorb the impact. Within seconds, its front end was completely smashed, and its windows were broken. Then, everything went out of focus, except for what I needed to do—assess the scene for safety, check on the drivers of the blue car and black truck, and call 911. Nothing else mattered—I felt a heightened sense of purpose.I had always focused on one macro moment after another—the next mountain to climb or business to start. I hadn’t spent much time appreciating the micro-moments—life in between the macros. I’d been living in a macro-moment bubble. The accident awakened a desire to paint a complete picture of who I wanted to be and how I wanted to approach my life. This is my story of learning how to value the in-between and prioritize consciously living in the micro.

"Seven-year-old Nate Saint peered wide-eyed over the cockpit of his older brother Sam's Challenger biplane. The eastern Pennsylvania countryside was spread out neatly below him like a fine tablecloth. Nate was determined to remember every moment of this first high-flying adventure." Flying soon captured Nate's heart. His air service ministry to isolated missionaries put him on a path of destiny that would ultimately end with a final airplane flight with 4 missionary friends to the "Palm Beach" landing strip in the jungles of Ecuador. The men's lives given that day not only opened a door to the gospel for the unreached "Acucas"; it has been said that possibly no single event of the twentieth century awakened more hearts to God's call to serve in missions.

The Monsoon Diaries is the firsthand account of Dr. Calvin Sun, an emergency room doctor who worked tirelessly on the front lines in multiple hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Drawing upon the lessons he learned from his adventures traveling to more than 190 countries in ten years, as well as from the grief he experienced as a teen when his father died, Dr. Sun shares his journey, from growing up as a young Asian American in New York to his calling first to medical school and then to the open road.
He believes that the fight for a better world creates meaning when all feels meaningless, and he hopes that telling his story will help readers reframe this tragic moment in our lifetimes into possibility, with the goal of building a more empathetic society.

An Original Audiobook Production from W. F. Howes, read by the Stoltman Brothers with exclusive audio content

When Loch Morlich freezes over, we cut a hole in the ice and jump in…

Tom “The Albatross” and Luke “the Highland Oak” Stoltman are the world’s strongest brothers. Between them, they’ve won everything there is to win in the mighty world of Strongman. Tom can deadlift a 430kg bar to hip height, equivalent to about seven washing machines. Luke isn't far behind. Yet for the Stoltmans, being strong is about more than pure muscle. It's about overcoming adversity. And it's about honouring their biggest fan: their mother, who died in 2016 leaving the family devastated.

But they’ve also transcended the sport, not least through launching the hugely successful online Stoltman Strength Academy. Through it all, they’ve stayed true to their roots in the Highlands of Scotland, giving back to their community, their family, and each other.

But it wasn’t always like this. Back in 2010, Luke worked full time on oil rigs in the North Sea, and Tom was a teenager that the rest of the world had written off due to his autism.

How did two lads from Invergordon conquer the world? Simple. They started lifting.

In their astonishing autobiography, Tom and Luke Stoltman are going to show you how to lift. How to lift the lid on life with autism. How to lift yourself out of the darkness of bereavement. How to lift the trophy at the World's Strongest Man.
LIFTING is the story of two athletes pushing themselves, and each other, to the limits.

Packed with bonus audio content, you can hear Luke and Tom in conversation as they discuss training plans, life goals, favourite music tracks for the gym and most importantly – spicy food.

In 1981, just nine years old, Jennifer Cardy was abducted and murdered, her bicycle found standing where she had left it.

There followed dark days for the Cardy family, days of searching for their missing daughter, grieving her death, wrestling with the questions. It would be thirty years before they would find any answers; thirty years before her killer, Robert Black, would face any kind of justice.

Yet, incredibly, through it all the Cardy family found comfort in God. They discovered that God's love is greater than even the worst tragedy that can befall us and can be our strength through even the darkest of days.
