A BMI of 30 or more indicates obesity. However, obesity is not just a matter of aesthetics. It is associated with a number of serious health problems, including type 2 diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, sleep apnea and various forms of cancer. The causes of obesity are multifactorial and complex. They involve the interaction between genetic, environmental, behavioral and metabolic factors. The abundant availability of high-calorie foods rich in vitamins and sugars, along with a sedentary lifestyle, are the main factors that have created for the rise in obesity rates. Additionally, individual metabolic issues and hormonal imbalances can also play a role in predisposing to obesity.Importance of Nutrition in the Prevention and Treatment of ObesityNutrition plays a crucial role in both preventing and treating obesity. The relationship between food consumption and weight gain is direct, as excess calories consumed are stored as body fat. Therefore, taking a balanced approach to diet is essential.A balanced diet consists of providing the body with the nutrients it needs for proper function, while controlling total caloric intake. This involves a proper mix of macronutrients such as carbohydrates, protein and vitamins, as well as taking in essential vitamins and minerals. When considering obesity prevention and treatment, it is important to take a long-term approach. Extremely restrictive or drastic diets can result in temporary weight loss, but they are often unsustainable and can lead to the accordion effect. Instead, the focus should be on promoting healthy and sustainable lifestyle changes, including conscious food choices and regular physical activity. In summary, obesity is a global challenge that affects the health and well-being of many people. Nutrition plays a key role in the prevention and treatment of obesity, and a balanced, long-term approach is needed to achieve lasting results. In recent years, Türkiye's foreign policy has been driven by efforts to reset relations with regional competitors in the
Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Against a backdrop of disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, as well as the redefinition of the US role in the region, Ankara's renewed diplomatic activism has been guided by the willingness to break from regional isolation, as well as the need to relieve Türkiye's deteriorating economy. How did Türkiye ditch its ideological approach in the wake of the 2011 Arab uprisings to adopt a more pragmatic stance? And how is the process of rapprochement with other key actors in the MENA region playing out – namely Gulf monarchies, Israel and Egypt?

Our past does not simply disappear. The painful history of our ancestors and their rich cultural wisdom intertwine within us to create the patterns of our future. Even when past trauma remains unspoken or has long been forgotten, it becomes part of us and our children—a legacy of both strength and woundedness that shapes our lives.

In this book, Tirzah Firestone brings to life the profound impact of protracted historical trauma through the compelling narratives of Israeli terror victims, Holocaust survivors, and those whose lives were marred by racial persecution and displacement. The tragic story of Firestone's own family lays the groundwork for these revealing testimonies of recovery, forgiveness, and moral leadership.

Throughout, Firestone interweaves their voices with neuroscientific and psychological findings, as well as relevant and inspiring Jewish teachings. Seven principles emerge from these wise narratives—powerful prescriptive tools that speak to anyone dealing with the effects of past injury. At the broadest level, these principles are directives for staying morally awake in a world rife with terror.

Could it be possible? This old saint in the forest hath not yet heard of it, that God is dead!

The ancient Persian prophet Zarathustra descends from a life of solitude on the mountain to announce to the world that God has been supplanted by the "Superman", the divine in human form. In one of the most radical and influential works of modern philosophy, Friedrich Nietzsche lays out the new standards of morality after the "death of God".

Frequently misrepresented (and hijacked to dangerous purpose by Nazi intellectuals), Thus Spake Zarathustra is a work of profound brilliance and poetic mastery which still provides meaning in today's complex and changing world.

There are countless examples of battles that take place in wars after a peace treaty is signed. The last battle of the Civil War was a skirmish in Texas that Confederate forces won, nearly a month after Lee’s surrender at Appomattox. As fate would have it, the last fighting of the Civil War took place two days after Confederate President Jefferson Davis had been captured in Georgia
It’s certainly rare for the most famous battle of a war to take place after the peace treaty is signed, but luckily for Andrew Jackson, the War of 1812 was that unique exception. Less than a year after his victory in the Battle of Horseshoe Creek, Jackson led his forces into a more important battle at the Battle of New Orleans. The British hoped to grab as much of the land on the western frontier as they could, especially New Orleans, which had a prominent position on the Mississippi River for trading. With more than 8,000 soldiers aboard a British fleet sailing in from Jamaica in early January 1815, the attack on New Orleans promised to be a significant one, while Jackson’s men defended New Orleans with about half that number. This went on despite the fact that the two sides had signed the Treaty of Ghent on Christmas Eve 1814, which was supposed to end the war.
Despite the fact the French & Indian War had recently concluded, Pontiac led the first major attack of Pontiac’s War in May 1763, when he and 300 of his men attacked Fort Detroit in what is now the city by the same name. Unfortunately for his cause, Pontiac failed to gauge just how strong the British presence there was, and his attack was quickly repelled. On the other hand, he was not a man who gave up easily, so instead of retreating, he and his warriors would lay siege to the British stronghold. In the days that followed, word spread of his efforts, and in short order nearly 1,000 men from various tribes in the area had joined him.
