Sinossi

The Haunted Bookshop is a novel written by Christopher Morley, first published in 1919. The story takes place in a second-hand bookstore in Brooklyn, New York, run by Roger Mifflin and his assistant, Aubrey Gilbert. The bookstore is haunted by the ghost of a former owner, the widow of the original owner, who died in the store.

The plot revolves around the mysterious disappearance of a valuable book from the store, and the subsequent investigation by Mifflin and Gilbert. Along the way, they encounter a cast of eccentric characters, including a wealthy businessman, a young poet, and a beautiful and mysterious woman.

The novel is known for its witty dialogue, charming characters, and its celebration of the joys of reading and bookselling. It is also a fascinating glimpse into early 20th-century Brooklyn and the world of bookselling.

Christopher Morley (1890-1957) was an American writer, journalist, and poet. He was born in Haverford, Pennsylvania and attended Haverford College and Oxford University.

When Judge Calvin Jeffries becomes the first sitting judge to be murdered while serving in office, charismatic criminal defense attorney Joseph Antonelli finds himself smack in the middle of a riveting case. As he works through the intricacies of a homicide audacious enough to strike at the heart of justice, the ensuing investigation and trial reveal a deadly trail of evil, shattered lives, and revenge. While challenging traditional notions of crime and punishment, the novel also calls into question the very principles of our judicial system and marks the breakthrough of a master storyteller. D.W. Buffas The Defense (Henry Holt, 1997) received great praise and grossed more than 40,000 hardcover copies. The Prosecution (Henry Holt, 1999) was also lauded by critics and garnered equally impressive sales.

They thought the river would finish him.
Dragged into the cold shallows at Rattlesnake Ford, Marshal Luke Tanner felt the current close over his head and the weight of betrayal settle in his chest. The men who ambushed him weren't just rustlers. They were protected. Funded. Shielded by power that ran deeper than the riverbed.
Pulled from the water by a rancher's daughter who saw more than she should have, Tanner survives long enough to understand one thing:
The crossing wasn't chosen by accident.
    It was a message.
Now he rides back toward the ford with a wound in his side and iron in his spine. The men waiting there believe the river washed their sins away.
    But justice doesn't drown.
And at Rattlesnake Ford, someone will answer.

A touching comedy of passion, sucking and pumping.
A shocking story of news and fake news. A tale of heroism and struggle with a literary stalker. A success story - one small man's push to come off of the bottom.
Oscar Sparrow is a sewage trucker and poet. This is his true story, recorded in his own voice.
Pursued by a literary stalker, crippled by lack of dietary fibre, sometimes naked and soaked in foul waste he never loses sight of his vision. Even from his police cell he sees only the blue sky. Driven on by his reckless love of women he becomes a best-selling female romantic novelist. If you've ever despaired, fallen in love, or sat on a toilet, this book will change your perception of reality.
Through failure, rejection and self-doubt a man fights his way off the bottom. A love story conceived over an open manhole and delivered by Elvis. An inspirational account of our common struggles. Take his grubby hand and for the rest of your life a comrade walks with you through every set-back and brings you through as a winner.
The self-help book the bosses don't want you to read.
'My Life in Ladies' Knickers' is as British as a Friday night kebab and a pub fight. Oscar Sparrow is a sewage trucker and poet. His life is a slap-stick romantic comedy where the slap is the harsh truth of life. The tickling stick has a shitty end with which to fight back. The romance is the transformational touch of a woman's love.
Enjoy laugh-out-loud moments as you discover the true story of how a sewage sucker became a successful female romance novelist. An outrageous comedy adventure and memoir.
    It's jokey, it's blokey, it's porn-hokey-cokey.
Scroll up now - grab your audio copy and enjoy Oscar's hilarious story, as read in his own voice, tonight.

Love's never easy, even in easier times, like the 1950s and 1960s in the Ohio Valley. The steel industry was booming. Second-generation immigrant families were reaching for the American middle class. And Catholic schools-made feasible by selfless Catholic nuns-promised bigger lives for everyone, including Jack Clark and Laurie Carmine. As they spent years searching for their separate futures, though, they were also stumbling toward love just as their world came crashing down. For readers of The World Played Chess by Robert Dugoni and Last Summer Boys by Bill Rivers, my historical novel Steel Valley is a story of love longed for, lost, and perhaps still within reach, just as our nation's mythic yesterday became our troubled today, our last summer of innocence.
