Sinossi

'Oh, if you knew the lives we women lead
You'd understand the Devil is a catch.'
In this radical reimagining of the classic cautionary tale, Johanna Faustus makes the ultimate sacrifice and sells her soul to wrestle control of her own destiny. She travels through time and changes the course of human history, but can she escape eternal damnation?
Chris Bush's devilishly provocative new play is inspired by the works of Marlowe, Goethe and other versions of the Faust myth – and explores what women must sacrifice to achieve greatness, and the legacies that are left behind.
Faustus: That Damned Woman was co-produced by Headlong and Lyric Hammersmith Theatre, in association with the Birmingham Repertory Theatre, and first performed at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre in 2020 before touring the UK.
'One of the UK's most exciting young playwrights' The Stage
'A writer of great wit and empathy' The Times

Syria, 2014. In the town of Kobane, there's a siege as fierce as Stalingrad. ISIS, having steam-rollered through Iraq, are expecting to take the town easily. But the citizens have found a heroine: a crackshot sniper with 100 kills to her name. And she appears indestructible. She's the legendary Angel of Kobane.
Inspired by an extraordinary true story, Angel is part of Henry Naylor's Arabian Nightmares trilogy. It was first performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2016, where it won a Fringe First award.

pbiThe highly anticipated follow-up to the wildly popular /iGlimpse/b/p
piQuick/i is George Murray’s second collection of aphorisms — a form that straddles the lines between poetry, philosophy, humour, and prose. He describes these pieces as “poetic essences” — sometimes even as “poems, without all the poetry getting in the way.” Some are deep, some clever, some funny, some all three. The best, he says, should read like common-sense statements that have never actually been expressed./p
pBuilt out of more than 450 short statements, iQuick/i is a series of thoughts and ruminations, any one of which could be an entire poem but instead has been compressed into a single profundity. Following his bestselling iGlimpse/i, Murray continues to explore a wide range of themes: from deep existential disquiet to the comforts of the meaning of belief; from what it means to be alive to how the world deals with hate, love, the sublime, and the ridiculous./p

“When you take an orchid out of its pot, you must first loosen the roots’ hold on the soil. Late last evening as I unravelled the braids of the shattered phalaenopsis, I saw how the ends were white and shrivelled from neglect. You have to do it gently—it’s like combing hair. I remember Mum’s fingers running through mine, and mine through hers, until the final months when all of it started to fall.”

A pot shatters. An arrangement falls apart. A florist finds herself amidst the scattered leaves of history. At once a poetry collection and a documentary novella, The Orchid Folios reimagines the orchid as a living, breathing document of history: a history that enmeshes the personal, colonial, linguistic, and biotechnological with the Vanda Miss Joaquim, the symbol of Singapore’s postcolonial hybridity. While the Orchid has shaped the fantastical narratives that govern our multiracial City in a Garden, it continues to shape-shift and bloom on its own terms, challenging us to imagine a decolonised Singapore. This is the organism at the heart of The Orchid Folios—by turns stark and unruly, documenting and challenging the narratives that are the roots of our national consciousness.

In this haiku love poems audiobook, I am delivering an underlying message that is not only about romance and romantic love, but even more, about the sacred feelings, perceptions and sophisticated moods that deeper love creates, when the partners are very much in love with each other. The audiobook itself is created in such a way, that it sets an almost meditative mood, where you can dwell in its simple message and its wonderful verses. Written in the spiritually-inspired Rumi style, you can easily contemplate this out-of-this-world atmosphere, with the help of the smooth and airy musical chords which are present in the background, all-throughout the audiobook. The poems are inspiring and they can be a great moodsetter and always being able to rekindle the flame of love while clearly describing the joy of the heart, while being in love. I invite you to sit back, relax and immerse in an hour and a half of beautiful haiku love poems. Namaste
