  Man is not only a physical entity but represents a cogent expression or an equilibrium of forces, so to say, stimulated by certain higher principles. The zodiacal signs govern these principles also. We know that the signs are grouped into three types, cardinal, fixed and mutable. These three sets of signs govern the three chief modes of expression of the vital body (Pran. amaya), thus complicating the mechanisms of the human constitution. The occultist should gain hold over these functions in order to overcome the effects of the cardinal signs. The fixed signs govern the emotions and the desires of man. Wish, desire, anger, aversion, attraction and repulsion are governed by these signs. The behaviour nature of man which lies beyond the control of his intelligence and understanding comes under their control.
