A Haunted Walk Through Tudor London is a 30-minute immersive audio experience that guides listeners through the city as it existed during the Tudor era, from the Tower of London to Smithfield Market, from the witches’ quarter at Bishopsgate to the execution ground at Tyburn, and along the shadowed banks of the River Thames.
This is not a ghost story in the modern sense. Instead, it is a historically grounded, atmospheric walk through the places where Tudor Londoners lived, feared, believed, and died, told by candlelight, with subtle sound design and careful attention to historical detail.
Along the way, you’ll encounter:The restless spirits of queens and traitors at the Tower of LondonThe vanished bells and bookstalls of old St Paul’sThe fires of faith at Smithfield MarketTudor beliefs about witchcraft, cunning women, and familiar spiritsThe theatres and sins of BanksideThe grim spectacle of Tyburn TreeAnd the river that carried London’s memory, the Thames
The walk is narrated by Heather Teysko, host of the long-running Renaissance English History Podcast, the original Tudor history podcast, with millions of downloads worldwide. This WWII memoir tells the remarkable story of a Ukrainian girl’s perilous adventures and coming of age amid the chaos of war.  Born in Kiev to a Catholic mother and a Jewish father, Sophia Williams chose to be identified as Jewish when she became eligible for a Soviet passport at age sixteen. She had no way of realizing the life-changing consequences of her decision. When Germany invaded Russia the following year, Sophia left Kiev and embarked on daring journey into Russia—surviving floods, dodging fires and bombs, and falling in love.   After reaching Stalingrad, Sophia found herself stranded in a Nazi-occupied town. She was safely employed by a sympathetic German officer until a local girl recognized her as a Jew. Within days, Sophia’s boss spirited her to safety with his family in Poland. Soon, though, Sophia was on the run again, this time to Nazi Germany, where she somehow escaped detection through the rest of the war.   Her story of survival continues into the postwar years, through starting a family and business with a German soldier. But when her marriage deteriorated, even divorce was not enough to keep her vindictive and violent husband away. Throughout this difficult life, Sophia maintained the grit, charm, and optimism that saved her time and again as she made her “escape into danger.”

    Stanford Prison Experiment The:...

What happens when you put good people in a bad place?
That was the question that an experiment in 1971 set out to answer when Stanford University professor and psychologist Philip Zimbardo used funding provided by the U.S. Office of Naval Research to create a make-believe prison in the basement of a university building. Male students were offered the chance to take part in the two-week experiment (and to make $15 per day). All applicants were carefully screened to ensure that they were healthy, emotionally and psychologically stable. 24 men were selected out of 75 that had applied. These men were then randomly assigned to play the role of either prisoners or guards in the “prison.”
Initially, nobody was particularly concerned: after all, these were stable, intelligent young men who understood that they would be playing a role for just two weeks. Some people even considered that the experiment was pointless because everyone involved knew that they were simply acting roles for a limited time, so they couldn’t be expected to behave in the ways that real prisoners and guards did.
Nonetheless, the experiment began on August 15th, 1971, and just six days later, on August 20th, it was abruptly and unexpectedly terminated after the “guards” had become brutal and sadistic and the “prisoners” had become withdrawn, fearful, and apathetic. There were real concerns that someone might end up being seriously hurt or suffer long-term psychological damage.
How could a group of nice, healthy, intelligent young men suddenly transform into sadistic thugs? How could another equally intelligent group of young men suddenly become apathetic victims of this brutality? What did this say about the malleability of human behavior, even when everyone involved knew that this wasn’t real?
