Sinopse

"Beautifully written, tender and terrifying." UNA MANNION
Annie surrendered her fantasy of travelling the world, settled instead for marrying her beloved Peter and becoming a mother.
When her two youngest daughters – her Crow Face and her Doll Face – perform a seemingly impossible act of levitation at a family picnic, Annie realises that they are truly extraordinary. Magical. And it's her role to protect them. With growing paranoia and a bitter fatalism, she spirits her daughters away from their home and the wreck of her marriage. But she commits a terrible, unthinkable, unmotherly act on the way.
Crow Face, Doll Face is an uncanny, brooding tale of domestic disturbances, dysfunctional families, flawed mothers, and unfulfilled dreams.
"I can't think of anyone who's currently writing more assuredly, or more enjoyably, in the fantastical tradition of Angela Carter, Emma Tennant and Elizabeth Bowen." STEVE DUFFY
"Deliciously unsettling… delicately peels away the layers of ordinary family life to reveal dark truths underneath." CATRIN KEAN
"Unflinching in its authentic and raw portrayal of the complexities of motherhood." PHILIPPA HOLLOWAY

TERRORISM, TREASON AND GLOBAL ORGANIZED CRIME EQUAL UNPARALLELED EXCITEMENT!
Threatcon Delta: Assault on the Pentagon tells the story of how terrorism, treason and global organized crime converge to place the most potent symbol of American military power under the control of a determined and ruthless group of heavily armed and extremely dangerous men who can’t be stopped, yet who must be stopped.
This global superthriller is based on author David Alexander’s extensive and detailed research into the history of the Pentagon, combined with first-hand knowledge of the Pentagon's most closely held secrets by this veteran defense insider, all of which has been artfully woven into a masterpiece of high-concept suspense fiction. In fact, the combined impact of accuracy and authenticity blended with superb storytelling, may find some readers asking themselves if perhaps some parts of the story shouldn't have been made public, for fear that terrorists or global criminals might some day use it as the basis for a successful plan of attack.
Yet the assault on the Pentagon portrayed in the book is no standard terrorist martyrdom mission either. Those who’ve taken over the headquarters of the United States military have an exit strategy that has been brilliantly devised to shuttle them to safety and provide for the enjoyment of their ill-gotten profits -- a scam on a global scale that promises to net the Pentagon’s hijackers a considerable fortune.By any standard, Threatcon Delta: Assault on the Pentagon is action thriller fiction at its boldest and best. It’s one of the achievements that have earned David Alexander a secure place at the top of the list of the world’s masters of the thriller game.

To discover what is true about ourselves, we often have to take a quest and undergo initiations that test us to the core. In this Celtic Heroine's journey, a young modern-day woman, through a series of mystical events, realizes that she was a Lady of the Lake in a previous life. Believing she is a normal person just like any other, Nina has no idea of the mysteries that await her in Britain. She was, as it turns out, 5th century Nimue, the one responsible for sealing Merlin up in a tree until the hour of his return. Now, she is the only one who can find him, and the world depends on it. Traveling back in time to Ynys Witrin, the Isle of Glass, she discovers more than she ever imagined possible. Nimue: Freeing Merlin is a stand-alone novel, and also part of the Legends of the Grail series. The books do not need to be read in order, but all of the legends and folktales interrelate. The earlier books in the series focus on Celtic Goddesses and Heroines. Like the other books in the series, there are Celtic rituals, mystical practices and visualizations for the avid reader who wishes to delve more deeply into Celtic and Arthurian mysteries.

The Five Orange Pips, one of the 56 short Sherlock Holmes stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is the fifth of the twelve stories in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. The story was first published in The Strand Magazine in November 1891. Conan Doyle later ranked the story seventh in a list of his twelve favourite Sherlock Holmes stories. A young gentleman named John Openshaw has a strange story: in 1869 his uncle Elias Openshaw had suddenly come back to England to settle on an estate in Horsham, West Sussex after living for years in the United States as a planter in Florida and serving as a colonel in the Confederate Army. Not being married, Elias had allowed his nephew to stay at his estate. Strange incidents have occurred; one is that although John could go anywhere in the house, he could never enter a locked room containing his uncle's trunks. Another peculiarity was that in March 1883 a letter postmarked Pondicherry, in India, arrived for the Colonel inscribed only "K. K. K." with five orange pips (seeds) enclosed.More strange things happened: Papers from the locked room were burnt and a will was drawn up leaving the estate to John Openshaw. The Colonel's behaviour became bizarre. He would either lock himself in his room and drink or he would go shouting forth in a drunken sally with a pistol in his hand. On 2 May 1883 he was found dead in a garden pool.Famous works of the author Arthur Conan Doyle's: "A Study in Scarlet", "Silver Blaze", "The Hound of the Baskervilles", "The Yellow Face", "A Scandal in Bohemia", "The Red-Headed League", A Case of Identity", "The Boscombe Valley Mystery", "The Five Orange Pips", "The Man with the Twisted Lip", "The Blue Carbuncle", "The Speckled Band", "The Engineer's Thumb", "The Noble Bachelor", "The Beryl Coronet", "The Copper Beeches" and many more.
